anjenthedog
I have my steam set for offline use. As well, I think I have a setting in Steam set, so it won't auto-update Skyrim SE 1.5.97 Is it now safe to login into and add another steam game without fear that skyrim's going to get fooled with? Gorsha
Yes, that is exactly the same as I do it. And I have no trouble.
anjenthedog
Whew...That's a relief. (Skyrim is my sole experience with Steam or any other game hosting platform) Thanks Gorsha
showler
It can still happen. There are better ways to lock it out. Like setting the manifest file to "read only". A quick google will turn up instructions.
anjenthedog
Thanks showler. I'll look into that. I still have a few days before Farthest Frontier drops.
thumbincubation
As Showler said, it can happen. It has happened to me. From time to time, Steam just arbitrarily decides to undo your settings. When I was holding off for 1.6 mods to be ready, I actually went as far as to duplicate the entire game, mods and all, to a separate place, and would change my in-use folders to skyrimspecialedition1 when not playing. Kind of a p.i.t.a. but at least it wouldn't be upgraded against my will then.
showler
Not really needed with the Downgrade Patcher, now.
anjenthedog
Not really needed with the Downgrade Patcher, now.Well, although it's nice it exists, I'd rather not have to use the patcher tbph. ;)(hence the query!)
showler
Yeah, it's still worth blocking the update. It's just probably not worth backing up your entire game folder anymore.
anjenthedog
FWIW, it all worked out fine. Got the FF game installed, and Skyrim still loads just fine
