Biges
Hi!I'm F1/F2 veteran and I'v recently started F3. So far I find VATS too easy, it is like entering a cheat mode (normal, perception 8+, Small Guns 40). But without it the game is boring FPS.So what I shoudl do? Increase difficulty? Install a mod? Compendium maybe? (But I fear its "freeze" bug :( ) Fallout 3 Balance Overhaul? Thanks
JimboUK
I must admit I only use it when I'm trouble, it's the "I win" button for me.

lilgamefreek
The problem with VATS is that it gives you a period of invulnerability without contrasting it with a period of extreme vulnerability. Stepping out of VATS simply plunges you back into the game where you are still free to fight as you please. My suggestion is to get a VATS mod that turns VATS into an aim-assisted real time fight. While not the same as FO 1/2, it'll make VATS more of an alternative than a god mode. There are plenty of VATS mods which don't slow enemies down, turn off the damage reduction, etc.
overload1977
Increase difficulty and get some mods to make it harder :) find one of the spawn mods so you have battle 20+ raiders lol

It ripped about 20 raiders a new one, then I dropped out of my hidey hole and figured I'd finish it off. Bad mistake. Even with 50+ points in explosives(and +20% explosive dmg perk) and 3 nuka mines I barely survived. Took about 15 reloads to pull it off also. I got chased for miles by one of the damn things, I lost count of how many missiles and stimpacks I got through. I barely survived and that was with two heavily armed companions. KillDrone
I wouldn't say VATS is entirely bulletproof. If you happen to enter it when more than one enemy is charging you, you'll likely end up letting the second enemy get a few good shots on you thanks to the long VATS time. But yea... VATS is kind of an escape method, but I enjoy the headshots to much to not use it.
