Animated Model Train Landscape

So while I was working on my own static model train table I thought it might make a good challenge for 3d modellers to create an animated model train.

Btw. this is not a request but something I would make if I had the skills to do so, hence I'm throwing this idea out.

Example from my current project

I love to see a model train. But I'm no good at human bodies & motion capture.

Although I don't know why you need a havok on the train (it's a normal gamebryo animation), but if you want I can give you rigs (I have a vanilla rig, and zaz zex rigs for max 2013). They are very easy to animate without motion capture. No more difficult than animating meshes. Export to hkx is also elementary. Even easier than exporting nif. Before I decided to try working with havok, I also thought it was devilishly difficult. But it turned out to be very easy.

it definitely needs a tunnel, and a bridge. A road with guarded crossing. Some water ...

As a kid I used to create these setups a lot. Then play on it with my toy soldiers & scale models of tanks and guns.

Build bunkers & trenches... fun times ;)

The only digital train I ever created was on the C=64. Moving from the right to the left of the screen, while you could (should) blow it up. (Shoot 'm up "Rambo" style, with a game maker by a similar name) ... those where fun times too ;)

Anyway, I was joking before (for those who didn't catch on)

but what would you actually want animated? The wheels? Or the whole thing? (why not do it by script?)

Haven't looked at the nif in this mod, Looping Animated Train Assets but it might be a place to start. Zorkaz, your static model train table rocks. A+ for creativity.

It does sound like you only need to scale it to 1:72 and you're good to go

edit:

Which does remind me, using regular game assets means an increase of complexity for the scene by the same amount ... hope you have a sturdy rig :ermm:
