"The World Health Organization (WHO) reports that the current situation regarding the outbreak of swine flu is evolving rapidly. As of April 27, 2009, the United States Government has reported 40 laboratory confirmed human cases of swine influenza A (H1N1), with no deaths. Mexico has reported 26 confirmed human cases of infection with the same virus, including seven deaths. Canada has reported six cases, with no deaths, while Spain has reported one case, with no deaths."

Ring-a-ring a roses,

A pocket full of poses,

Atishoo, atishoo, we all fall down.

OH TEH NOES TEH DRAMAZ.

I reckon its going to end up like every other outbreak here - a whole bunch of whoop-de-do and not much else.

(Propaganda video goes here)

That was quite strange. The matter-of-fact way that she said *so-and-so* died was just absurd.

"But so-and-so had a heart condition and she died."

I agree with bben46 in this case. It just doesn't seem to be a cause for omnipresent worry/anxiety. I won't spend my free time wringing my hands and thinking about it.

As an ex military who had to deal with contaminating viruses i can assure you.. that you all have nothing to worr*cough*.. excuse me.. nothing to worry ab *cough cough*... to worr*cough*.. gah.. i can assure you all have nothing to wo*cough*..

..let me finish the damn sentence!....i'm not feeling so well....

On a serious note.. right now it's something to be aware of. strongly aware and ready to take action should you need to for you and your family, but no reason to wear mask on your face and carry around a small tree for Oxygen reserve. It's your right if you want to but there is no need right now. this is not the first virus to threaten the nation. I understand that we shouldn't kick this flu in the corner simply because we've dealt with outbreaks before, but there is also no need to sit at your computer screen screaming "THE END IS NEAR! ALL IS LOST WE ARE ALL GONNA DIE!!.."because that helps nobody including yourself. you know the virus exist. you know there is a possibility of the virus spreading massivly across the world. so take all reasonable precautions but don't go crazy over it.

Another thing... if it was the end of the world.. would you prefer to die doing something you've never done before,or die at your laptop, debating about how the world will end?

Well we have 12 confirmed with the flying pig flu here in New Zealand. they have been quarantined at thier homes. It appears that the easiest way of contracting it is through actual physical contact :yucky: so no hugging over the net and wash your mouses or mice and key boards.

This has a little to do with bben's post.

What somebody should do is set up their militant forces, and contain that one area where the virus spreads. Basically like a virus scan, do a quarantine on the survivors, find out who's infected and what not, kinda like 28 days later. I doubt that would happen. I sure hope they find a cure though. Because I've heard there were, I dunno how many students were killed, but quite a few in one of the High Schools in New York.

I've also heard about this flu at school, so I'm taking extra precautions. Although, I'm not gonna act crazy like "OMG I'm gonna die", because I strongly believe I ain't gonna die like this, I tell you that for one thing.

That would be much too tedious and inefficient. How would they be able to find and contain all the infected people? Besides, that would only be minutely effective in the very first stages of the disease, where it is still contained to a relatively small area. After that, it would prove impossible.

Anyway, it seems that a few cases have been confirmed in Ontario. Rather too close for comfort...
