mort82
Hi there,Looked through 8 pages or so from a couple of the forums here looking for some recommendations for a few mods, didn't find any. Basically I'm looking for some mods that will reduce the frequency of ammunition, food and medical supplies (basically make everything rarer). Reason being is I've played through Fallout 3 a dozen or so times now and I'm little bored of the fact that by the time I hit level 15 or so, I usually have my megaton house filled up with so much ammunition and supplies, and carrying around so much, that I don't even bother looting anything anymore or exploring, I simply don't need to. Even on hardest difficulty I'm running into the same issue :(So, any recommendations from other wasteland scavenger types out there?
TheUndert0ker
I would highly recommend the Greener World mod, it really is excellent. That and marts mutant mod spawner, you'll be using up so much ammo it wont matter how much you've stockpiled and its a lot more fun blasting huge gangs of super mutants that are in numbers far beyond the difficulty of the original game. Clear skies mod combined greener world is just beautiful looking, a lost world being reclaimed by nature with blue skies instead of ugly yellow ones. Fallout Overhaul Kit (FOOK) is a good one with many features. Phalanx mod with new followers, you can create a party of 4 or even more followers to create your own team of heroes. Cybernetic Dawn which is a terminator crossover and enables you to play as a terminator is really great. The terminator cyborgs are max hostile and very challenging enemies. Global Travel System (GTS) is a really sweet piece of work that adds new areas to explore, I'd highly recommend that one. If you've got the computing horsepower look for any and all texture replacers you can get. These combined with Greener World and Clear Skies have radically altered the way the game looks for the better, making it many times more immersive. Lastly a level cap workaround and skill cap workaround are essential as you're going to be making a lot more exp. Or an exp reducer.
Karthago
Or if you want fallout more dark and dreary, Dusty Sky and Nuclear Winter are both great mods for that. Those two put together look awesome.

Evarin
There are a few mods that directly make the game more challenging. I searched far and low for decent mods and there seems to be a few main ones: http://home.comcast.net/~xodarap777/XFO/XF...l#Compatibility That is XFO, which is a pretty badass mod from the looks of it. I still have zero idea if the mods I am installing will work, but I am hoping for the best. This one will DEFINITELY give you the difficulty changes you crave. If you are smarter than I am on how you pick and choose how to make these things work, you should be able to get this to work for you just fine. The other mods I am currently looking to get are the FOOK, which is around number 47 on the top 50. It is a gigantic combination of about a thousand other mods. Adds 150? other guns, and lots of other crazy stuff. Robco Certified lets you repair robots and take them into battle. That is a mod I wanted since I started playing fallout. I would definitely recommend that one. Finally the MMMF3, or Morts Mutant something..something increases the amount of spawns, AND adds a bunch of new creatures. If I can get them all to work with each other I will be a happy man. That Cybernetic Dawn sounds pretty awesome too.
Citrus872
Do any of those mods reduce the frequency of ammo, food and medical supplies? No. For basic needs (food/water/sleep), I'd recommend RI - Primary Needs, since it's currently the most "finished" and immersive one, and if you want, Real Injuries from the same author. This will make you use up a lot of food and medical supplies, which will alleviate the issue with that type of loot. I'm also looking for something that messes with the loot tables in some way (preferably configurable and compatible with other major mods), since I'm currently at level 4 (yes, four) and practically swimming in ammo, caps and loot, which is rather silly. mort82
Thanks for the replies all.I'll take a look at that link evarin, cheers ;)Citrus, I'm in the same situation, level 8 now with so much ammo. I had real injuries and primary needs running good up until about 4 days ago, it really definitely added to the immersion, but it's crapped up for some reason now (didn't make any changes, didn't add anymore mods, nothing), I can't save or enter anywhere (because of autosave) after I load up *any* save game (even ones that worked before). It just CTDs.It's a damn shame too, just before it happened, I'd run into a group of supermutants, and though I managed to dispatch them, the left side of my body was pretty much shot to buggery, and my torso was crippled, unfortunately I didn't have enough medical supplies. Managed to stop my bleeding and heal the wounds, but I only had one brace so I patched up my torso (in case I took anymore hits to that area, being the biggest area), and dragged myself to Rivet. Go to enter it and blam, CTD, no more playing with RI/PN :(
