To early to tell, but I do hope it will be better then NWN2 was, ye gods the BUGS!!!! I guess there is hope we can check out Dream Land and maybe get some additional lore on aliens. Engine I assume will be the one from Fallout3, no need to reinvent wheel yet again.

For me, the only question that counts, will it have a mighty Construction Kit?

If not, I will play it 1-2 weeks and then like all other games without Modding Tools,

it will end up in my desk. Even it would be incredible awesome, without beeing able

modding it, its just a nice snack for the weekend.

I'm not pysched about Obsidian making FO: Sin City...it seems that they are a gaming company that can't come up with their own original ideas that sell anymore. IE they totally destroyed KOTOR when they took over from Bioware in KOTOR2...a game that had entire zones that were non-functional. They spent 15 hours building up this weird character who never spoke...and the resulting boss fight was so poorly paced that he died before it even started. Then there was an ending that didn't make sense and was unplayable to the point I just stopped 1 hour from the end and waited for a patch that never came...

NWN2 was much the same way...the story was just awful. I quit after the 100th 'Go fetch me a spoon quest'...none of my friends who bought it have gotten through that game either. They also licensed that one from Bioware.

The company's games seems to possess an unholy triad of poor writing, poor programming and awful quality control.

The main reason KOTOR II was so borked was that the dev cycle got cut short by almost 9 months because SOMEONE wanted a christmas season release for the X-Box instead of a summer release the next year. And when the people who provide the money for the project make a decision, the developers usually follow it. I never played NWN2, so I can't speak for THAT game, but KOTOR actually could have been a great game if they had been given the time to actually finish it. And what I have seen of Alpha Protocol so far looks friggin awesome.

Oh KOTOR2 was a good game, but it could have been a great game. The cut so much plot relevant content that some things in end game didn't make sense. But there is hope fans are restoring cut content. As for NWN2 I wont start ranting about it, BUT id like to point out that devs from Obsidian have bad habit not properly testing their soft before marketing it. Anybody recall fallout 2 bugg fest, NMA even has restoration project where most things fixed were bugs and faulty scripts. Same thing continiued in KoTOR2 and in NWN2 and xpac., notice the trend? And they all weren't a minor ones to either some broke the game so you couldn't finish MQ. But now that Beth has granted them somewhat stable engine, they can start concentrating on story and design and maybe the game will be less buggy.

So Fallout 3 Vegas has finally been announced, an its not being done by Bethesda supprisingly enough. Its being done by Obsidian, the makers of Starwars Knights of the Old Republic and Never Winter Knights. So these guys know what it takes to make a good story. But their way of handling combat is more of a point and click format.

The only thing they have going for them is the fact that they have some original Black Isle Members.

So my question out there is:

1. Do you think finally sin is in? Bethesda was more on the censored side when making the game, no drug addicts running around. No ballant acts of irresponsibilty (selling your wife to the sex trade and making money, placing adrenaline in a guy with heart problems to kill him off, etc. etc.)

2. Do you think they will screw it up?

3. What do you expect new in Fallout 3 Vegas?

Personally, I am scared, since they aren't known for their FPS.

But I am hoping they take their ideas from our great modding community and inncorporate all the best mods. Since its popular by the public, obviously the public would like to see it. I hope the enviroment to be a little more alive, like in S.T.A.L.K.E.R where you see wandering soldiers, not those that materialize out of no where just for the satisfaction of wanting to kill you.

Since its in Vegas, hopefully their will be gambling drugs, sex, and random acts of vilence of the Mob.

Hopefully Obsidion is better at making a game than Bethesda is, since everything from Bethesda is bugged to hell and back and they never seem to be able to fix anything properly.

kotor was excellent

kotor 2 was a disaster (and not just the ending, that was just the awful icing on the already terrible cake)

nwn was excellent

nwn 2 was a disaster

fallout 3 (despite all its flaws) is, ultimately, excellent (or at least pretty good)

fallout vegas will be ???

Obsidian is a company with a history of creating terrible sequels to excellent games. The only reason this decision isn't being universally decried is because some of the guys from black isle are in Obsidian.

  • 1 month later...

KOTOR and KOTOR II were both great (I HAVEN"T PLAYED THROUGH EITHER COMPLETELY)

hope Fallout 3: New Vegas has the same kinda in depth, good/bad course type story that those two did (but not with the KOTOR II ending, if its that bad) was kinda disappointed by the Pitt, such a short story with so many holes, and Anchorage was a little too linear, no good/bad endings, and the characters didn't have any backstory, wonder what the New Vegas story will be......

oh yeah, read somewhere (very rumored) that New Vegas is actually gonna be a whole other game....

Fallout 4: New Vegas

but thats just a rumor.....

I hope
