Even if you never use Videos of the Wasteland, you've probably seen a settler looking at the snow-filled televisions in your settlements.

Recently I came to the mildly depressing realization that the reason IDEK's Logistics Desk wasn't available in Starlight was due to some conflict in the Starlight VotW mod.

I'm dealing heavily enough with comics of late as to at least temporarily leave off VotW. This, of course, brings back the issue of what to do with these tvs that settlers watch... snow on.

Then I remembered the way the Announcers sounded just as clear as a radio transmission. So, my question is this... if the tvs are still reacting to power, why not tune the things in to radio?

Because the lore mongers will scream in their twisted panties that TVs don't have radio receivers built into them.

Even tho.... Lore wise.... there's no power to run those TVs in the first place. OR the radios. Or that the ones above ground didnt get fried by EMP for that matter!

Bethesda logic. Gotta love it!

A very simple way to set this mod up, would be to take the files for the radio, create a new radio, and switch it to use the TV 3d models. Name it to use the same system IDs that the functioning TVs use, and Viola! You have a replacer. :D

(Assuming of course that the tvs don't have to be linked to a video file. Then you'd have to add those links in to it, or have nothing on the screen,)

As for putting in the new graphics if you want to display them on there.... I'm completely guessing on this one. I dunno if that is keyed directly to what is played on opening scenes of gameplay there in PreWar Sanctuary or not. If it is, a new graphic would have to be assigned to it, so as not to affect the PreWar TVs. Not that big a deal really, just change one data entry to point to the new graphics.

It's the nature of those video files, that I don't know anything about.

Could be done as an addon to VotW, I think. They solved the problem of actually playing clips on an in-game TV already, and have lots of actual videos, too.

you would probably require a special version of their videoplayer script, which, instead of playing the video from one specific item, pulls one from a list somewhere (this list is then your "TV channel"), plays it, then goes to the next.

I don't know, however, if you can start playback mid-video. Not just in the context of VotW, but in general. From what I understood, you would have to start a nif animation and a sound clip at a certain offset, and I think this just isn't possible in this engine.
