I just bought New Vegas last night. There are so many mods that its quite overwhelming. So to start off I'd like to know, which mods do you recommend I definitely get. So far I do have about 15 installed. Most of them companion related ones. (ie unlimited companions, sandbox, willow, diliah, ambasssador, etc)

What else should I go after

Don't worry about trying to get it all. AWOP is amazing, btw. Some of the user developed companion mods are pretty amazing.

I'd suggest NMC textures (medium), weather effects, lots of things to increase encounters, lots and lots of player homes (try 'house on a hill'), Weapons mods (WMXUE) and so on and on.

Just take it slow and easy, don't get carried away don't put too much stock in opinions online as our tastes are highly unlikely to exactly match yours. If you go too fast, you won't be able to get a stable game. You will have to uninstall and delete everything several times before you believe this if you are like most of us. (I shared a backup script which can make getting stuff back a little faster)

I do NOT suggest you get nvamp, it is EXTREMELY out of date and VERY buggy because of it.

I personally suggest you play without mods for alittle while, get a feel for the base vanilla game and then you will have a better idea of what you want in your mods. To many people grab every mod they see right away and end up breaking their game or ruining the experience right out of the gate. Play it for a couple days vanilla then you will be able to know what you want to change about the game.

This. How are you supposed to know what mods improve the game if you never played it in the first place? I'd actually say that you should do at least one playthrough with only AWOP (A world of pain) because that mod doesn't change anything, it only adds things. I wouldn't suggest any ENBs, weather mods, overhauls, etc. to anyone who doesn't know much about the game. If you don't listen, I understand. If you ever do decide to go all out with mods, I have a list of great ones here: http://www.reddit.com/r/fnv/comments/1prr74/planning_on_replaying_fnv_what_are_some_of_the/ my comment is the first one on there with 13 upvotes. My username there is TheScout201 too.

Hope this helps!

I think that is sound advice, you don't have to do a complete playthrough, but at least get your feet wet, that makes it easier to pick up the mods you want. There are so many mods that it can be like making an impulse purchase at the market if you aren't careful.

I would suggest some though (since the only thing i do on this forum is suggest the same mods to different people). Either use nevada skies or fellout for lighting or weather, Interior lighting overhaul, Ojo beuno texture pack. Project weaponry is a really good mod that adds like 150 weapons to the game, they are lore friendly, fun, and it has weapons on all 'tiers'. Project nevada for customising gameplay.
