GenDonuts
Hope you like this one. Its kind of emotional. Scene 4 (Sanctuary) (The scene opens with Tony, Jessie, and two other kids running into a house. When they get into the house they stay quiet and rest for a minute or two.) Kid4: Man what the hell were those things? Tony: I don’t know. What I’m more interested in is surviving. Jessie: I’m with Tony on this one. Kid1: Oh yeah well I would like to stay the *ban me* here man. Tony: Are you crazy? Those things are sure to come in here and look for us. Kid1: Oh yeah and what the hell do you presume we do to get outta here and not die? Tony: I don’t know maybe find some better shelter like a mall or something and fortify us there instead of waiting here to die. Kid4: No way man, no way, I ain’t leaving this spot. Jessie: I hate to admit this but I think Tony’s right I mean the military is sure to have set up an outpost there. I mean it’s a long shot but its better than sitting here waiting to die. Tony: (To kid1) Are you in? Kid1: Ahh poo… Yeah I’m in. Tony: How about you? Kid4: No way man, no way, I’m sure the military will get here before them. Tony: Look if you stay here you’ll die. Kid4: No I won’t, No I won’t. (Keeps repeating) Tony: Are you sure? Kid1: I have a question. Tony: What? Kid1: The mall is about a mile away maybe two at most. Tony: Your point? Kid1: My point is how the hell are we supposed to get there without getting killed? Jessie: (She looks out of the window.) We could go through the woods. I mean it’s easier to get lost but at least there won’t be that many in there. Tony: Any more questions? Kid1: All right lets do it. (He says hesitantly) Tony: (To kid4) Are you sure you don’t want to come? Kid4: Your all gonna die, your all gonna die, they’ll come for me you’ll see they will. Kid1: Leave him be he’s obviously nuts. (Tony looks at Jessie who is blankly staring out of the window. He walks over to her.) Tony: You okay? Jessie: Yeah I’m fine it’s just… Tony: What? Jessie: I’m worried about Sam. I don’t know if he’s alive or dead, and if he is dead then… Tony: What? Jessie: Then I won’t be able to tell him how much… I love him, how much he makes me smile, and how much he… Tony: Don’t worry about it if I know Sam he’s probably already at the mall by now. Jessie: Are you sure? Tony: Positive. Kid1: I hate to break up this touching moment, but I think we better go before they get here. So if you don’t mind I’d like to go now. (Tony and Jessie stand back up and walk out of the back door. Kid4 continues to ramble) (Sam wakes up in the hospital and sees his mom outside his door talking to the doctor. She then begins to start crying into her hands. The doctor walks into his room and tells him his dad just died due massive trauma to the head. The scene goes to Sam who forcefully wakes up from a dream.) Sam: poo, poo; I gotta get up gotta keep going. (He gets up and starts’ running again as he’s running he kneels down and vomits then gets back up quickly. He continues to run and trips. Instead of hitting dirt he hits concrete. He gets up and looks around. He sees Opry Mills and starts walking there. As he’s walking there he sees hundreds of people getting in line to get in there.) Sam: Jesus… (He starts to walk over to the long line of people.) Soldier1: Hey? Hey you? Sam: What? Soldier1: We need you to get in line with the others. I assure you its safe in there. Sam: Yeah sure whatever yuh need. (Sam walks over to the end of the line. He looks around and sees fire, smoke, and dust coming from behind him. He starts to look at the people around him and sees how battered and bruised they are. Eventually he gets inside of the mall a soldier give him a card telling where he will be staying for the next few days. Sam walks over to his bed. It is located inside of Bass Pro-shops. He sits down on his bed and looks down at the floor. He reaches into his pocket and pulls out a necklace. It has together forever written on the front of it. He opens it and sees a picture of him and Jessie. The scene begins to zoom out and we take the audience into another flashback.)4 weeks ago (Sam starts to walk up the parking lot of Opry Mills Mall to meet Jessie. Before he gets to the front entrance he pulls out the same necklace, looks at it smiles and puts it back in his pocket. Eventually he meets her in the front entrance of the mall.) Sam: Hey. Jessie: Hey. (She says mildly) Sam: What’s wrong? Jessie: Nothing I just… Sam: What? Jessie: Lately I’ve felt that you’ve been distant. Sam: What do you mean distant? Jessie: Nothing its just lately you haven’t been a jerk. Sam: What do you mean? Jessie: I’ve been leaving you messages on your phone, e-mailing you, and texting you for the past couple weeks and you never responded, hell I thought you were dead. poo you weren’t even going to school. Then outta nowhere you decide to call me and plan this date and expect everything to be okay? I mean what the hells wrong with you? Sam: (Frustrated) You wouldn’t understand. Jessie: What wouldn’t I understand? That your Dad died huh… You gotta a lot of nerve saying that to me especially since you know what I went through. I mean at least you didn’t have to witness your mom suffer through cancer. Sam: Look this has nothing to do about you. Jessie: I wanted it to be about us though Sam. Not about me and not about you but both of us. I could’ve helped you get through this. Sam: And who said I need your help? I mean do you even care that I at least was able to get out of the house and make this stupid date. I mean obviously you don’t. (He pulls out the necklace) Hell I can’t believe I even bought this stupid necklace for you in the first place. Jessie: Once again you make something special for us to do and instead of it happening you have to bring something up that will make the world revolve around you. Sam: You’re the one that started this *ban* argument anyways. Jessie: No you did when you decided to exclude me from your life and try to hold the weight of all your problems by yourself. Instead of not letting others help you get through them. Sam: And you think you could’ve helped me… All you would’ve done was make it worse. You would’ve said something stupid like I know how you feel just because you stupid crack angel of a mom died from cancer. Jessie: Thank you Sam. Sam: For what? Jessie: For helping me decide if we should stay together or not. Sam: Jessie… (She turns around and starts walking away tearfully.) (Sam looks around and sees a huge group of people staring at him.) Sam: What the *ban me* are you looking at the shows over. (A tear falls from his face as it falls the camera follows it and the scene changes from the flashback to the present. The audience sees the tear hit the picture inside of the necklace. The camera looks up at Sam as he’s crying.) Where are you Jessie? (We now see Jessie, Tony, and Kid1 running in the woods towards the Mall.) Kid1: I’ve gotta stop man, I gotta stop. (He says out of breath) Tony: We can’t stop now were almost there. Kid1: How do you know that? For all you know we could be heading right towards those f*#@in’ things. Jessie: Tony lets just stop for a second okay? Tony: We can’t stop I mean how do we know that those things aren’t right behind us? Kid1: (Looks around) Well I don’t see anything. Tony: Fine we’ll stop, but only for a second. Jessie: Thanks Tony.(After a while of catching their breath they continue to walk towards the Mall. When they get there they see almost as many people as Sam did.) Tony: There’s no way we’ll be able to get in here. Jessie: You never know I mean maybe the Army has tents outside of the mall. Kid1: Well what the hell are we waiting for are we gonna get in line or what? Tony: Yeah… sure. (They join the back of the line.)
