skyrimlover1212
I know, but i'm asking for something much more efficient than 2 junk per day. Plus, last l checked, robots can't use it. Which is why l asked for a Mod that lets you send robots or settlers out to into the wasteland to get resources, which would include crafting items, but also food, weapons, ammo, ect, with options to decide how long they're out exploring, which would determine how much loot they get. InvokerGray
"Options" from talking or holotape, or message box? Conversation requires the most work. Edited October 22, 2022 by InvokerGray
Blinxys
Perchance you might like this: Salvage Beacons.Been a long time since I've used it, and then even not too much, (was just getting the hang of things at the time). :teehee:Using skk50's global storage so it doesn't serve much purpose, but it could... There are probably variations on the salvage beacon theme as well. A Good idea, except l want something that doesn't require the player to leave the settlement. The idea is, you can assign Settlers or Robots to be "Explorers" who go out and occasionally return with various items, like Junk or Ammo. Kinda defeats the purpose if you're collecting the items yourself and just getting someone to send it back to base.
RaidersClamoring
Definitely a fun and useful idea. A way forward could be to extend the Caravan function by script to a custom work-assignment that sets a Settler off into the wilds exactly as they normally do animation-wise, disable the showing-up-at-other-settlement part and then randomizing from LevelledLists of junk and gear when the settler returns. The items then either just get added to the workbench or gets dumped on the ground, in a container or offered in person to the player with some type of prompt involving the settler walking up to him for greater immersion. Not that advanced I think.EDIT: This could be even more immersive and make more sense if the junk actually exists somewhere along the designated path and gets removed when the settler passes through. SUP_F4SE provides a function that looks for objects of all kinds in specified cells, creates a huge list which can then be sifted down to object-types the player actually wants. + fun surprises. StormWolf01
one of MXR's old videos had a mod in it that allowed you to craft special benches. There was several different benches, for different stuff for them to go out and scavenge. Assign somebody to the bench, and they'd leave the settlement and go out hunting for stuff. It had different animations for the different kinds of things they were looking for. Then they'd come back, and deposit what they found, in that bench. It looked like a really cool mod. But I can't find the video again (He has sooo many of them! AND, it was an older one!) to find out what the name of that mod was, to see if it's still around or not.I've tried multiple different search parameters but I cant find it :(

Uhm, yeah ok, I get it, but NPCs are not actually truly autonomous and generally do nothing but possibly route when your back is turned. What's more it would have to be arbitrary because AFAIU loot does not appear in a cell/container without the player first going there.... And, there are variables involved, luck, perks, legendaries, raiders... That is where "Scavenger Beacons" comes in, (so you might have missed the crux of it).Drop the beacon someplace you have cleared then your settlers will go there to pick up stuff without you having to hang out.So you are effectively the trail blazer. :ninja: If you don't like that, AFT has a function to make your (multiple) companions collect anything useful from the surroundings (bypassing their carry weight check).AFT has additional functions for managing the crap they pick up more easily too. Sometimes, (and I don't know what mod is responsible for it), but have found an eyebot scrapper station that will allow you to tell it what to find specifically and bring it back to the station. Finally, there is Cheat Terminal and you can bypass the whole rubbish. Otherwise, yes, I'm pretty sure what you are asking is somewhat beyond the scope of the game/engine without it being a jury-rigged placebo to none effect, or a no net gainer.
