Fallout 3 Won't Play

This makes no sense, why won't it play? I installed it, and it wouldn't work. What's more, the CD doesn't do anything automatically (not sure if it does, Oblivion does). I own a real copy of Fallout 3. One thing though, I downloaded the UK patch, since I'm an Aussie playing this. I got the 1.5 patch, but it should work fine, there shouldn't be any problems. The main reason why I put the patch on before playing it is because I've heard about the massive amount of game-breaking glitches which I'd rather not experience. Could someone tell me what's going on? Also, it's definitely not my computer, my cpmputer easily fits the requirements. One more thing, while the launcher doesn't work, it tells me it doesn't. The actual .exe file does nothing when double clicked. The disc makes some obvious noise, saying it's accessing the disc, then it stops again, it doesn't even tell me there's an error. If possible, is there a way to unpatch Fallout?

Here's another little point for Vista.

Windows Defender can be shut off and on. I turned it on back when I was searching for a new Malware, Spyware, etc suite and I just had a little mouse control freeze. I could see the Pipboy-3000 and the pictures background was moving but the mouse arrow was frozen. I shut down and as my temperature started rising that Windows Defender gave up a pop up message that something had chanced in cmd...

I turned off Windows Defenders, "Microsofts little malware, spyware sniffer" and returned to playing the game. May 14, 2009 Afternoon.

Previous notes:

I just found out the Internet Security Suite was the reason Fallout 3 was crashing on my machine. When I did a fresh boot I forgot to give it permissions to allow Fallout 3 stuff to run.

I was looking at the Pending list just before I stopped by today.

After a fresh installation of the game and a New Internet Security Suite I got, it appears all the vital .dll's in the Fallout 3 folder are not known to be secure at the Internet Security Suite company and are waiting for me to approve them or submit them for testing.

I am certain that it was the problem causer now because I could not get the reinstalled game to get past the Play page to the window where I could click on Continue or Load page.

I got a blank screen from the Launcher of Fallout 3, from FOSE launcher and from FOMM launcher instead. I finally decided to turn off the Internet Security Suite and the game play worked. As soon as I saw that the game worked I realized I had not checked in the Internet Security Suite preferences.

I found that with the new installation, and every thing, that almost the entire file contents of the Fallout 3 folder was blocked for access after the launcher .exe and each down to the last .DLL was set as "Untrusted."

Do you have an antivirus suite? See if it has a function like mine requiring permissions to be set for your Fallout 3 stuff. Or if not designed so you can; try turning off your Internet Connections and temporally turning off the Antivirus software you have; to see if it releases the files and lets you start the game.

A little info is needed. What is your Windows version. XP, XP Pro SP1, SP2, or SP3. Or Vista Standard, Home premuim, or Ultimate. Was your software installed by the manufacturer 64 bit or 32 bit version or did you install the Vista 64 bit installation, or 32 bit installation?

Ultimate rules! 64 bit verion allows for game with 32 bit version status to be installed in a separate Program Files folder than the master called, "(x86) Program Files". Easier but it still has game flaws with Fallout 3 and some drivers from various Video Cards like mine, "nVidia 8600 GTS". I ugdated the drivers for them and anything else I could just in case. And it has been better sailing ever since.

I apologize for my very late reply. Firstly, I'm using XP SP2, with Windows installed on my Mac. I was having a problem with Oblivion not that log ago, and it was fixed by rolling back my drivers, so I'm currently not sure what to do. I'm yet to uninstall and reinstall Fallout 3, but I'm thinking I should be doing that first.
