Makira3251
I am attempting to modify a CBBE outfit. From the Vortex dashboard Bodyslide successfully launched and I found the specific piece to modify. The preview shows correct, but after pressing build or tryingctrl-batch build it led to no effect in game. I do not know about what to see as an Output path under the Advanced settings, which is mentioned in other posts I've found.
showler
Set your output path to a new folder in the Vortex staging folder. Then Vortex will see it as a new mod and you can make sure it overwrites everything else.
Makira3251
Thanks for reply. By staging folder you mean the folder with all the mods installed to it? I put a "BS Output" folder in that folder and Vortex gave me a warning about adding it there and then had me settle a conflict to load it before or after the armor pack mod. If that was the right folder to place it in, I am doing something else wrong because there was no effect in game. showler
Did you "install" the newly created mod? And make it "load after" the armor pack mod? And remember to deploy afterwards? The new folder should have the proper directory structure in it as well. So, in that folder you should have "Meshes/armor/whatevertherestofthepathis" and then the newly created NIFs. Makira3251
Okay I retried it with those directions. I dropped the folder into the slot on the Vortex app and it was "installed". It was set to load after the armor pack it was identified to stem from. There was a deployment before I settled the conflict. The folder does have a mesh/arrmor setup with the new nifs, but no effect in game. Going to need to get some sleep. I appreciate your instructions. showler
Okay, the one other possibility I can think of is the annoying one. You might have modified the wrong outfit. Chosen a similar one rather than the one you intended to. I'd check very carefully the file path for the outfit you want to change and see if it matches. Do you have the Better Console mod so you can look at the information?
Hanaisse
If you were wearing the outfit at the time you modified it you will not see any immediate changes, you'll need to dump the outfit you're wearing and get yourself a new instance of it. Generally with Vortex you do not need to create a "new mod" to change bodyslide outfits, nor touch the Output Path (those are more MO2 instructions). Are you sure your Bodyslide is working correctly in the first place? What did you modify and how did you modify it? I'm assuming you did something in Outfit Studio. How did you save it? The correct procedure would be to Load the project files, modify, then Save Project. If you did Save Project As and changed anything in the save profile then you've created a new instance of the outfit instead of changing the existing. Feel free to drop into the Bodyslide Discord server if you need more assistance.

If you don't make it a mod that can have conflict rules, how do you prevent Vortex from overwriting it on the next Deployment? A virtual link will still overwrite a normal file if the name/path is the same, will it not?

RE: advanced, output path, you will see nothing by default. Afaik, it points to the presumed installation on the Bethesda preferred path (C:/Program Files (x86)/...). If your path deviates from that, (for instance, if you installed the game to another drive), I could be wrong, but I believe you need to specify the output folder. Check the description tab at the Bodyslide and Outfit Studio page. They have info on what to do
Makira3251
I will do some thorough reading on the BS/OS description page. I thought it was simple to use, but it seems that's not the case. I never touched studio because the instructions on the mod's page were:5. Open the BodySlide utility. Search for "CBBE SE - Goma's..."6. Tweak the sliders to your liking, or use a preset that you have already created. Not alot to go on and this is my first time using BS. It found the item and tweaked quite easily, but as noted above the default output path was blank and despite multiple attempts it had no effect in game while reporting successfully processing the tweak and saving to the "Data" folder. Creating a folder that I dropped into vortex to "install" and then sort the conflict, at least twice but to no avail. I also suspected the other warning about the "instance" before and threw away the current piece to craft a new one, but it was consistently the default body overwriting my character's body.
