batlham Posted May 14, 2009 Share Posted May 14, 2009 Just saw the new movie....and it was ok the first half..then it was STUPID for the rest making all of it worthless. If you have not seen it and don't wan't it pre-ruined for you...then quickly close your window..and go waste some money and then come here and vent. First, the actors were good...and the only redeeming part of the show. Very funny if you have watched the orginal series. And the whole Spock/Uruha thing was hinted at in Star Trek Original Series...but it didn't work out.....so that was ok. I have a joke for you...A scientologist, mexican, and a jew make a movie...and the joke was this movie... The creators....I heard before this movie "They wanted to be faithful to the Star Trek canon" BULL!!!! WTH were they thinking..hmm lets see..lets take everything that start trek is based on and blow it all to crud...Blowing up Vulcan???? Were they sniffing paint??? It was rubbish.....so..is the future movies going to be based on just destroying the whole star trek universe??? Lets go back in time and blow up ancient QonoS...so those pesky popular Klingons are wiped out....I mean lets not just stop at destroying those popular vulcans. What harm would it do rewriting all the popular elements of the series out? They should had blown up earth....after all if they need to destroy the time line they should just go whole hog. This is what happens when you let second rate writers from Xena and Hercules shows write a star trek movie.Oh and lets not forget J. J. Abrams who brought us the Lost show.....another stupid production in my book...I guess he is upset he didn't get to blow up earth when writing Armageddon...so lets blow up a KEY part of the federation... OMG..I just read they are thinking of giving these idiots another movie in 2011 Don't pay to see this movie....get it from free sources....you know what I might mean. It would be like rewriting the bible, except that Jesus was well accepted by the Romans and not crucified. And oddly enough, that's just how important it is to some people. Okay I will explain it in laymens terms. Badman come from future who not supposed to be there. He mess up future. It create alternate future. This cause change in Star Trek Universe. Thus explaining why it not like show. Or is that to hard for you to understand. I for one thought it was very well written. They had an excuse for everything. Even why they were able to teleport onto the ship while it is in Lightspeed. So shut-up and get over it. Everyone else who saw it probably liked it. U really don't pay attetion in movies do you? Also something tells me you hated the Watchmen movie for the same reason. :thumbsup: :thanks: Sorry but I just get mad when someone disses a movie that is good because it doesn't stick to the source material even though the movie explains why it doesn't. I admit I was about to be very Pissed off because it wasn't going to stick to the show, but after they explained why it was logical and made since. Thus explaining why it not like show.Well when they did do a time screw up in ALL of the series they fixed it...if they had fixed the OOPS in this movie..or NOT blown up Vulcan...I think the movie would had been good.I mean this is Kirk....And we get an Epic Fail with Vulcan. PS..I haven't seen Watchmen yet....And I will probly like it since its not a bad remake of a series thats been developing for 43 years. And yes I pay attention in movies....and the characters were pretty spot on...I mean its not hard to do impressions of the TOS actors...just through in a few repeated lines that they are well known for and there you go.Still the fact they even claimed that they were sticking close to cannon is just another clue that they had no idea what they were doing. jaysus Posted May 15, 2009 Share Posted May 15, 2009 its not a paradox universe but a parallel universe... paradox would be for example: cats are dogs but dogs are mice and thus cats cant be dogs... ------ i liked the movie... was entertaining but i must say the cuts were bloody annoying... if i want to watch mtv i just watch that... sadly you have to be on coke or somin to get every scene lol and the colours make you feel that youre on lsd...another point was uhura... such a brat... the original was much more likeablebut overall i liked the young crew... and you didnt just get that they were the heroes of ages past due to the their signature words but also their character (apart from uhura)id have liked a bit more background on the characters tho, the way it is now kirk stealing daddies car in the beginning of the movie makes no sense to me even tho it would be characteristic of him but its just not explained satisfyingly... and neither is uhuras fencing abilty... (both cool scenes but they needed background info imo)the descision to use the old enterprise model was surprising to me, and my opinion differs 50/50 on that as the old design is plain crap but still more immersive than lets say the voyager design... nevertheless i think it would have been ok if theyd exchanged it for a lil bit more modern version... i mean the interior somehow doesnt look like a 70s spaceship neither...
