Thor.
I am going to see it tomorrow, if you seen the earlier movie and the tv's shows it sort of makes since. For instants voyager and there time traver misshapps and one of the enterprise had a time travel thing going, they must have trully screwed up space time for the better aye. i am not much of a Star Trek fan myself but its something to do on the long weakend. hoots7
Just saw the new movie....and it was ok the first half..then it was STUPID for the rest making all of it worthless. I must respectfully disagree.I just saw it last night and was not expecting much but was pleasantly surprised, I went with 2 other long time original Trek fans & they concur. First, the actors were good...and the only redeeming part of the show. Very funny if you have watched the orginal series. I agree and I thought that Karl Urban (Eomer Lord Of The Rings) hit it dead on with bones. And the whole Spock/Uruha thing was hinted at in Star Trek Original Series...but it didn't work out.....so that was ok. Wrong Uruha never had a thing for Spock, that was nurse Chappell.Kirk kissed Uraha (Plato's Stepchildren) but Spock never did. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Plato%27s_Stepchildren The creators....I heard before this movie "They wanted to be faithful to the Star Trek canon" BULL!!!!…… No argument they did not repeat the past events in Star Trek history & I thought as you did that they would do what most writers do & set everything straight before the movie ends but by not doing so they have allowed themselves the ability to take the things that worked in Trek and not use the programmatic elements. This is brilliant and best of all Leonard Nimoy is still around. Yea is sucks having Vulcan blown up but they acted a little too big for their britches, maybe this can help with that arrogant attitude. It's cool that Pike is not all gross & reduced to a 1 or 2 beep dialogs. Bottom line is they had to do something to get more folks interested and overall I think it worked. (Now the price needs to be right for Shatner to be in the next one). phforNZ
{snip other quotes} :wallbash: It doesn't break cannon. It's set in an alternate timeline, not the preexisting one. Again, in caps, for you slower ones. IT IS SET IN AN ALTERNATE TIMELINE NOT THE PREEXISTING ONE! Quoting so it'll sink it. While it does *technically* break canon at first sight, the whole fact of screwing with time also means it doesn't. Screwing with the past = new future (you've probably heard of the joke of going back in time, accidentally stepping on a bug, and having everyone inside out when you come back) Oh, and Bones and Scotty... spot on, imo. Easily my favourite characters :)
Skree000
im a hardcore star trek fan i own legit (and expensive) dvd collections of almost all of em, shows and movies, as well as tons of books novels posters etc. (even the technical manuals by Okuda etc, w00t) I really liked the movie. It does indeed stick with cannon.its an alternate timeline.
