LoginToDownload
I'm all for removing the ratings system; at this point, it just gives the wrong idea. Who's ever heard of a ratings system that gagues mods only by whether they work? Especially with forced comments for ratings, anything that needs to be said can be said in the comments page. Even when used for its real purpose, it maintains a stigma against mods that have since been updated out of bugginess. The only problem is representation, but hopefully enough people who don't have problems would comment to give a reader a general idea.
madman132
The Rating System only is useless when you have very few ratings, when one Troll can pull the Rating down a whole Point, the Rating you see is not very useful. When there are a thousand Ratings, one Troll can't do much damage and trolls usually don't band together all that much, so the Rating is at least somewhat reliable...To a very little Extend, since there are also a lot of anti-Trolls here, People who give everything a ten before even downloading the Mod, which cheapens every "heart felt" ten. But generally, Mods which have a rating of 9.83 or something other that can only occur when many People rate the Mod it's generally not a bad mod. AzirAphale001
I've said this a few times, and I'll say it again. If (when) the file rating system is replaced to be more like the image rating system, and trolls can do virtually no damage. There is no way to give negative endorsments to images, and files should be the same.

There is no way to give negative endorsments to images, and files should be the same. The problem there is, inherently, the current ratings system is designed for negative endorsements. If mods work as advertized, with no problems, they're supposed to get 10s. Keeping track of how many people it works for is much less effective than keeping track of those it doesn't work for, if only one can be had. If it actually does become "I approve of this mod" instead of being functionality-based, I would be very happy.
exanimis
I download mod and try them out. If they do what they are supposed to do, I go back and give them a rating of 10. I never give less than a ten. That may not be the best way of doing it but it seems fair to me. I don't pay much attention to the ratings that a mod has. The comments section is a much better indicator of how well the mod works than the ratings. I would personally like to see the rating system replaced with something more like the image rating system. If people wanted an honest rating system the comments and rating page for each mod would be a link in the readme. People would actually have to download the mod and read the readme before they could comment, that would end the Trolls comments and ratings. madman132
I do not think everyone can grasp what the rating system is for. This Community is really very oversensitive about the Trolls, which leads to the very annoying fact that when a Trolls does appear, it will do even more Damage. The very thought of giving every functioning Mod that does whatever the Rater thinks it's supposed to do a ten does not appeal to me. That would lead to very easy mods having a rating of 10.0. Your Ordinary Superweapon Mod should get a rating of 10 every time because everybody can see that this mod does exactly what it's supposed to do.Where some of the Giant Quest driven mods out there all have at least some Things in them which do stuff that wasn't intended. I'll the "Lost Spires" Mod as an Example: There are some Trophies that will sink through the Floor in some Places, also some of them are impossible to turn around with the Grab button. If i assume that this wasn't intended, should i give that mod a lower rating then the Superweapons Mod where i typed in "200" in the Field for Base Damage? I think not. Some People might feel that they may want to give a lower Rating to a mod that has been there already. Like the nth superweapon mod. Do we have to have every single "my first mod" where People played around with numbers on TESNexus? If your Answer is "No", then you should be able to give that Person a rating other then a 10. If you think a big quest mod has been made technically sound and even marvelous, but with very little "Soul" or Creativity on the Side of the Author, then you should be able to give that Mod a rating other then Ten. If someone gives you a rating of 1 because you uploaded a Playerhouse mod, he is not necessarily a troll. Maybe this one is rather bored with unimaginative Modders and wants you to do something new rather then being a part of the People who transform the tesnexus into a giant pile of "Has already been done" Mods... If someone gives you a low rating, there is a slight possibility it may not be a Troll. I have to stress that since everyone who gives a low Rating is instantly being reported and the Rating is deleted and no one checks if the Rater had a valid reason to give a low rating. AzirAphale001
Okay then. How about positive and negative endorsements?
Deepblue686
I would only rate a mod "1" if I'm 100% sure that the mod doesn't work or is poorly executed.
colourwheel
It mainly not about the rating system that I been bothered about. What really bothers me is when people leave comments like this... this is such a geek mod. Get a real girl instead of jerking off to some virtual one.. http://www.tesnexus.com/modules/comments/i...3&fid=24436 Comments people leave like this are very unconstructive and a bit insulting to the community as a whole as well as the work I personally put into this release.
