Hey everyone! I don't usually tread over to these forums as I am usually over at the Bethsoft forums. However, I have encountered performance problems and I desperately need assistance. I am going to post the same thing I did over there.

 

"I seriously thought I had all my problems fixed and I could continue playing the game without any issues but now I am about ready to give up. I am having this new issue where when I am playing I will just be walking and out of the blue my game slows down and I mean slooooows down. Massive lag, like I cannot even play anymore. The thing is the frame don't really change. It's more like the speed of the game gets cut down to a third of what it's supposed to be. It's impossible to play when your game speed is constantly changing. It's so bad that I cannot even turn my character. I have tried everything under the sun. Disable and tried every setting imaginable, Google searched it, closed all programs running in the background, etc (I am also not running any mods at all). The only fix I could come up with to get rid of it completely is to turn AA and AF 0 and play my game in a 1280x720 resolution. Which makes the game look horrid. Edit: My frame rates stay around the mid 30's to 40 since I cap it at 40. I usually don't have v-sync enabled (I disable it via .ini) but I have this issue with it on or off.

 

Update guys: I went into my game and Fraps said I was getting 40 FPS but when I moved it was like the entire game was in slow motion. My game speed must have slowed to a crawl. I went into 3rd person and my character was running like I had Bullet Time on. But that can't be because I have no mods installed. I don't know what to do this doesn't even make sense to me."

Other things to try in addition:

Your PC is relatively low-end but it should be good enough to play the game with a number of mods loaded let alone bone stock.

Check if your PC is in order. Patched, clean temp folders (both of them), up to date drivers, do a virus scan and a malware scan.

Check what is running in the background. Don't forget to check what loads with your PC. Bottom line less is better, particularly with a low end system.

Check your PC settings. Optimizing your PC's performance takes some time but it is worth it.

Go through the advanced settings in display to make sure your view distances are not very high.

Consider unpacking your BSA files. The order the game loads files is the loose files, if not found then check the BSA. Which is a compressed folder which has a little overhead to search through.

 

I would guess that running the game in native resolution with modest (low) graphics settings including a minimum level of AA/AF (1 level above off) should work. I ran it on a fairly low end laptop while my PC was being shipped to me (took around 2 months). I never had your exact issue, but I originally tried a bit more then my PC could take.
