DOOM Mod

I've thought about making mods but I really like this idea and I really need help. I suck at scripting and I have no texture or mesh creation tools, that's what I need other people for. I will list what I think should be in it and others can help to. If you can help me with some of the meshes and stuff it woud be great. I will give people credit for their help. But before I start listing ideas i need people!

The people I need are:

-Models(have to make creatures, weapons, and armor)

-Textures

-Animations(for the creatures... so they can move)

-(and possibly someone to post scripts on this page that I cannot do, if I need scripting)

 

That's about it, I can get the stuff in the game so yeah thats everyone.

Personally, I think that I could only really get interested in helping with a mod that has a unique story. Recreating DOOM, which is one of the most extensively worked computer games in history, seems like reinventing the wheel.

Making a doom 3 mod is fairly easy:

 

Step 1: Make everything very very dark

Step 2: remove the pipboy light

Step 3: give the player a crappy flashlight. It's a weapon, so it can't be held at the same time as your gun.

 

There, perfect doom3 gameplay in all it's crappyness

I dont know why people keep wanting to recreate fps in fallout, its not that I dont like fps remakes, its that fallout as a fps engine falls down flat on its face and could be considered even worse then the orginal doom.

 

everything is to mechanical(movements dont easily flow from one to another direction changes etc seems very unnatural), and all attackers come in two flavours.

 

High hitpoints/ Low Hitpoints.

 

They are given crap weapons and accuracy in fallout because the player cant dodge or easily even hide behind stuff no real use of cover enemy units have the same problem.

So it is doom1 ish.

Problem being, even doom had weapons more advanced then fallout generally allows.

Shotgun that can punch through mutiple people.

The Railgun had to be hard coded into the engine, rather then use a simple and rather easy programable script for fallout like fps use(just for this versatility) we are kinda stuck with whats there.

 

 

If its possible to enable both the player and the npc to start dodging/using cover instead of just simple crouches not only would it make a good fps, fallout as a whole would be much better game.

First off, thank you Warthug for telling me one is already being made... now I'll just download it when its done. Second Badpenney I may have added a storyline and HOW IS THIS IN ANY WAY LIKE REINVENTING THE WHEEL? You cannot make the exact same Doom out of Fallout. Third TGNBlank , Doom is actually not at all a crappy game. And darkening it and getting rid of the pipboy light and adding a crappy flashlight is would not make it at alllike Doom 3 or any Doom, it would just make a dark creepy Fallout 3. And I'm sure its possible to make Fallout a better fps ANd rpg, but we won't find out cuz I won't fail because I won't try. Its assholes like you that think just because your a "Veteran" on the forums you can act all rude. And last, Phyonix I'm not trying to make anything better than Doom! And woud anyone even go that indepth making a shotgu to go through multiple targets. I think I'll never ask questions about my mod ideas again instead I'll just make them when I learn to script and make meshes and textures! :verymad:
