EonKid
So I have this set of armor that is replacing Scaled Armor on females. No idea where it came from and I can't find it in data/meshes. So far I've only seen it replacing female scaled armor, nothing else, but I'd really like it gone. Nothing ruins Skyrim more than random bright purple thong armor... I attached a picture of it. Any idea what I can do?
wowtrancer
I'm just going to go ahead and request a list of the mods you have that modify armors. The issue is that it's not just a leftover file as there's a clear texture instead of just a flat pastel purple. Some mods modify things randomly or have options to modify things that you normally wouldn't think of. If you don't want to list your mods I'd suggest disabling then re-enabling them one by one to see if you find your mystery armor. If all else fails you can just uninstall ALL your mods and clear out your Data folder then reinstall all your mods, that will no doubt fix it unless it's one of the mods you're installing that's doing it. Of course if you use something like Mod Organizer it could be that you have something left over in one of the overwrite folders.
EonKid
Here are the armor mods I have and they are the only ones I've had since this installation of Skyrim. I've checked all of them (Because some are compilations) and like I said I was even viewing everything in data/meshes with nifskope just to find the elusive bugger. wowtrancer
Hmm.. My main issue is that I recognize that armor, it's a variation of http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/10251 However none of your mods include that. Humm... It has to be from a mod or old mod... Maybe some sort of overhaul or something. I really can't say for certain. If I had a look at your data folder I may be able to finger it out. What other mods to you have? EonKid
Problem is I have a ton of mods and NONE of them should be adding this. Here's something I'm confused about though, I'm sitting here in my data folder and the thought crossed my mind that I have other (known) mods that aren't showing up in here. For instance I have a mod that adds monsters from Witcher and yet I can't find the meshes. View hidden files is on but that did nothing. Where else could mods go to affect the game besides the data folder? And it turns out this Silverlight variant isn't a replacer ( I installed a Scaled Armor 2k retexture thinking I could beat this with simplicity but it never asked me to overwrite and the armor was still in game.) So it's a stand alone that just shows up on npcs occasionally and when you kill them to figure out what they're wearing it's just regular Scaled Armor. BlackRampage
Sounds like some kind of replacer version of the silverlight armor. Navigate to Data \ meshes \ armor and see if you have a subfolder called "studded". If you do, move it to some other location (just in case). Do the same with Data \ textures \ armor \ studded. If it still shows up it could also be added through a .bsa file, but a .bsa file requires a plugin file to have it's contents show up. In that case you could give disabling all active plugins a try. EonKid
Don't have any subfolders called studded although, since I was wrong about it being a replacer it could be called anything. The problem is I've checked everywhere and it doesn't seem to be anywhere. Is it possible for a mod to install somewhere else? Wherever the vanilla meshes are kept for instance? BlackRampage
Vanilla meshes are kept in "Skyrim - Meshes.bsa" in the data folder. Unlikely that it's in there since you'd have to unpack and repackage it's archive in order to edit anything inside it. What happens if you disable all plugins? wowtrancer
You ONLY use NMM, right? Or do you use something else as well like Mod Organizer? There's no such thing as "ghost files," these things HAVE to be getting placed somewhere, right now we just need to figure out where. There seems to be some sort of overwrite folder going on, like I know Mod Organizer uses a whole other folder system when using/installing mods. So since some of your installed mods aren't showing up it seems like something else is being used as well or they're going somewhere else. This is... Honestly really weird, yet I'm sure I don't need to tell you that! Edit: If you're only using NMM check the blue and grey gears in the upper left hand corner, click those and click the "Skyrim" tab. Check your directories listed to make sure that things aren't being installed in weird places. Edited November 25, 2013 by wowtrancer
