missing NIF, corrupt esp

I saved a esp, was fine when i saved it, loaded it and a NIF file is missing.

in_impsmall_wall_01.NIF

It is there on other esp's and on the esm master morrowind, but when i load my esp, it goes to a add file, I can't figure out how to fix this.

I can't find the file on my drive, but i know it's there somewhere, can i copy it from somewhere and make a new object or what can i do?

AAAGGHH! I had a really cool castle!

From now on i will make backups before editing.

Okay no one seems to want to touch this one with a six foot stick.

Maybe I need to explain this minor but devastating problem a little better.

In the editor, in static, the object name on left, to the right is a column for MODEL. in this column is the NIF file for that object. somehow my esp screwed up, maybe i didi it, the editor does funky things sometimes when clicking between windows. Any way on this one it says ADD ART FILE i click on it of course it goes to the Data Files directory where i can acess all the added meshes and textures from downloaded mods but can't access the ones from the original game. I believe they are archived in the .BSA file but have no idea how to access them. I downloaded some programs used for retexturing but haven't the time to learn how it all works.

:huh2:

All i want is to put it back to normal as it makes my esp useless for it not only ruins my castle, but it is used 170 times throughout 20 different cells in Morrowind alone, not counting tribunal bloodmoon and other plugins. :undecided:

When trying to add the art file, make sure you have the construction set cd in the cd drive. Don't try to extract a .nif from the BSA - go to the cd instead where you will find all meshes, textures etc listed, and you should be able to select the correct one without difficulty.

:embarassed: Why didn't I think of that?

Thanks a lot for the help!!!

 :laugh2:

I really appreciate it.

I think I can probably figure it out from here. Although I believe if I want to share it now I'll have to include the NIF and texture files also and not just the esp, but this gives me an excuse to add extras, as long as i have permission of course.

sincere thanks again,

-Kevin

always make backups! You'd think I'd learn by now.
