Argomirr
When I heard of this guy named Shady Sam, I tried looking for him. I went to the entrance of the Imperial City and walked south. After walking around the entire city, I found Sam and realized that if I would have walked north, he would only have been a few steps away. ;D

Netwit2008
I remember a biggie from MW that was a lesson learned, so I didn't repeat it in Oblivion. When I first started MW, I went around and cleared out every cave, nook, cranny and ruin I came to. My character leveled fast, but later, when I joined a house and guilds, I'd already done the quest areas, so sometimes I couldn't find the quest item I needed. It had been acquired and sold, lol I was able to substitute, but it was a pain. I rarely go into places now unless directed by a quest, thus my quests are all able to be fulfilled with no problems. I'm still a higher level bad ass though, lol

Alkser
My first newbie mistake was that i didn't use the fast travel. I was only going by foot until i opened the map and accidently clicked on IC Market District to see that i can fast travel :P
jimuno
Lets See, Newbie mistakes I made 1st, expected all the graphics to run right and maxed them all out. I had just built a new system, latest generation duel core processor, NVidia 8500 GTs in SLI, 4 gig ram, Man, I was on the edge and going to rock. Enter the game, wow, looks cool, get through "Basic Training" dungeon, aka, the prison sewers. Ok, lets find this Quest guy, FastTravel? well, I read the book, but who remembers everything from it? so run to the Priory, then I take off to Kvatch, and , no more nice trees, enter the grass, FPS drop to like 3, everything goes choppy, Ever try to fight that way? Note to Self, and now to others, latest generation video cards do not necessarily run older graphic modes faster or better. Nor is the older game set up to take advantage of improvements. Another, Thought I could build a character to Kill Mehrunes, got him up to 30 something, nice armour, one swipe, he is dead. OK, np, load a saved before final sequence of game, enchant 5 pieces of armour to 20% Cham. Now he is invis, Rerun final sequence, ah-hah, Mehrunes don't see me, doesn't swing at me, I run up and chop at him with my sword (Umbra) and chop at him, and chop at him, and.....well you get the picture. I did actually see his health decrease enough to show on the meter before he regened. Hey, no one ever said anything about essential characters to me before. David Brasher
One newbie mistake I made was to let the auto detect feature adjust the graphics settings on my game. For weeks I played the game in a thick fog. It was a bit slow and laggy. One day I decided to turn my viewing distances way up. It was amazing! I could see mountains! I could see the Imperial City from far away! I could handle blood decals! The game was basically as un-fast and un-smooth with all the cool graphics as without. The big killers are grass and rain. Now I can't imagine how I could stand to play with such terrible graphics for so long.
