that is entirely incorrect. you can easily put mod a directly behind/in front of mod a.

also - so what if there are one or several mods inbetween mod a and mod b, if they don't interact with mod a or mod b?

as with all the other times this has come up - there's no actual evidence that its needed.

again what are the dozen or more custom rules you need to define? can you give a real example, or is it a fallacy you've pulled out of thin air?

Yes i can easily put mod B directly behind/in front of mod A, by making 2 rules, but imagine doing that for EVERY plugins, it is just tiresome and require dozen of custom rule if you have 100+ plugins. For example, my current load order are A C B, i want to put B directly after A and before C, i will have to make 2 customs rules: "load B after A" and "load C after B". Now, imagine doing it for almost every single plugins, it is tiresome right?

Plugins index placement are the closest thing we got to drag-and-drop, but it still bad because of how it work.

And you still cant get the idea, are you?

Yes, there is no problem if there are one or several mods inbetween mod a and mod b, even if they don't interact with mod a or mod b. The thing is, i want mod B to be directly after mod A even if there is no benefit to it, why? Because i like it, it is a preference.

Think of it like decorating your bookshelf. You want to put your favorite series on the top shelf, your least favorite in the bottom shelf even if those placement provide no real benefit other than satisfy your own preference

why would you do that for every plugin? that literally makes no sense whatsoever. again, your use-case scenario is so outrageously asinine as to have no basis in how modding works.
