Nexus Mods centralisation complete, we now support mods for all games

NMM crashes and freezes constantly.

Fails to download, and often get stuck or freeze when trying to log in.

Also seems that when I press the "Download With NMM" green button, when NMM isn't working in the background, it counts as if I double-clicked it, trying to download twice in a row: because I get this message: "another instance of NMM is running etc.."

Love what you've done with the site! Definitely keep it, However I noticed now since the centralization I can almost not even use it. I have been trying for 2 hours just to download an updated mod. I get blank white error pages after a long wait and every time I go back to the site it wants me to log in again. Then 5 out of 6 times I get no servers ready, they are always synchronizing. Is this a known issue?

Cheers,

Joe

Hi

Not sure if it helps.

Lifetime Premier membership, but not recognized by site.

I can access files using NMM but not sure if the slow transfer rate is due to failure to access premier servers.

When I try manual down load the site does not recognize me as a premier member

My profile still show I'm a premier member

I was trying to download Skyrim Book Covers Desaturated files

Hope you can get things onto an even keel soon

Cheers

First off, a word to Dark and cohorts:

Thank you.

Okay, two words. For years--YEARS--the Nexus has been an amazing treasure, and it is thanks to the hard work of the Nexus team. There are other places for modding communities online, but the Nexus has always been the most focused, cleanly-designed, prolific, mature (generally ;) ), and dead-easy-to-use of them all.

And now you want bigger and better things. Not for yourselves, but for the modding community. You want to include other games, not just our favorites, but the favorites of other people, to bring them under your wing and grow the modding community that much more.

Thank you. You are ballsy and amazing.

To everyone squeaking about downed servers and NMM difficulties--if you absolutely NEED mods right now, be patient. If you don't, be patient. You can still browse and download files, but you may have to knuckle down and do it the old-fashioned way. Manually! Is it NMM? No. Does it suck? Of course not. Be patient. They told us all about this well before they started working on it (I spent a good bit of Sunday simply downloading for a new Skyrim playthrough before the Nexus was scheduled to be down), so be patient.

Stop complaining. Legitimate bug or status reports like Dark asked for in the post are one thing, smack-talking the Nexus is another. The internet is not powered by pixie dust and happy thoughts, so don't expect that the Nexus team can snap their fingers to make things happen. They are real people dealing with real machines and real code and really trying to make this all come together in an insanely brief window of time. Give them the benefit of doubt. Give them a break. Be patient.

And Dark (and company)? Again, thank you!

Edit: Forgot to word.

I can confirm that the file I just downloaded from Kent server via NMM does not have version information, and is listed as unassigned category. Getting missing mod info did not work, either. Nor did checking for new versions. Restarting NMM also did not get this info.

Folks, yes, there is a big transition going on here. Some of it is not yet complete. It is totally understandable that people are frustrated, but the best thing we can do is try to help their team by providing as much detail as possible so they can fix everything. If you are having a problem, it will help them if you say what you have already tried and tested. Just saying I can't download doesn't give them many clues about why you can't download or what might be causing that when other people are saying they can download, if that makes sense. For example, if the people who can download are downloading manually and the people who aren't are using NMM, that would be helpful for them to know. It is also helpful for them to know if you are *not* having the issues other people are reporting or if you have found a workaround. If you explain precisely what you are doing that is working, it may provide also clues to them what is going wrong for other people.

For those of you who are new, the site does not usually have the kinds of issues you are seeing right now. There has been a huge change made which will allow this site to support all moddable games, not just a few. The issues you are seeing are temporary and due to this massive upgrade, which is ongoing. I've been here a long time off and on. I can tell you that when things do go wrong here, the Nexus team works really hard and fixes problems as soon as they possibly can. If I had to guess, I would say from past experience they might need another day or two.

What most sites would probably do is take the site down entirely for several days and only allow their own staff to test the changes. That would have made it much harder to find and fix problems and it would have caused a great number of people to panic and assume that the Nexus was dead. This way is better. It really is. There are features that currently do not work, but we still have access to the forums and chats. Lots of people are posting good information. Some bugs have already been fixed. We as users can help provide the information they need to get everything working.
