ZxAsriel
I was playing fallout 4, 3 days ago, and it was working fine. Save and load systems worked like a charm. Then 2 days ago it stopped working properly and every time I try to load a save I am met with an CTD after just short of 3 seconds of the loading screen popping up. Some things to keep in mind:- I haven't gone over the plugin limit in the slightest and always made sure to mark as many files as light as possible, this system I have not altered for over one year now.- I have not in that time downloaded new mods, and have kept all up to date.- I have personally scanned for incompatibilities and sorted them out 6 months in advance.- the load order was stable and still is.- The save file isn't corrupting.- But the load process is.- I have also kept FO4SE up to date, along with keeping VORTEX up to date. Everything has been meticulously maintained.- If anyone is able to, do direct me towards a mod that stabilizes the "load game" features of the game, as it's not a performance issue either, I have no stuttering nor lag. It's like VORTEX corrected overnight for something and now I can't continue where I left off.
RexDarvog
Greetings, I don't have a solution, but I have the same problem. I was running my game just fine until Vortex was recently updated. Now I can't load any save for any modded character I have.Perhaps this update has made a mod or two incompatible for some reason. I can't be sure because I can't check out every single mod out of 200, though I did update the ones that need it. I also didn't download any new mods either.I'd admit that my mods aren't optimized the best. They're just disabled/enabled until Fallout 4 doesn't crash.Maybe I'm just missing something simple, but everything was running fine before a Vortex update. jaydawg55
Have you used Steam to verify the game files? Sometimes they get messed up. If Steam finds a problem, it will load the missing files. Next, what happens if you start a new vanilla game with no mods installed? Try that first from the Steam launcher not Vortex. If it launches, play that game for a while. Try saving, closing, and re-launching multiple times. This tests your game to see if it is installed properly. If it won't launch or crashes, then you probably need to re-install it. After uninstalling it in Steam, go to where your Fallout game files (NOT saves) are located and delete that parent folder. Even when the Steam client says it has uninstalled the game, all the old files are still on your drive until to actually delete them. Once the old files are deleted, then you can make a new installation from Steam. With a playable vanilla test game -- and no need to do a new installation -- then try launching from Vortex. If it won't launch or crashes shortly after loading the saved game, then the problem is probably your Vortex installation. Delete it, re-install it, and try again. You might want to try an earlier version. DO NOT USE BETA VERSIONS of Vortex. Stay with stable versions. I have found the Betas sometimes have features that worked before but no longer do. Don't mess with them unless it is just for testing. My experience playing Fallout 4 with mods is that the game can be very delicate. Having many mods loading too many items or scripts in the early stage of launch will cause crashes. Using mods that break pre-combines will cause random crashes or weird displays like missing parts of buildings or terrain objects. If you use Sim Settlements, remember that SS1 mods are not compatible with SS2. Mods that expand the borders of buildable areas in settlements can cause crashes. This is all I can think of right now. YourMuse
Greetings, I don't have a solution, but I have the same problem. I was running my game just fine until Vortex was recently updated. Now I can't load any save for any modded character I have. Perhaps this update has made a mod or two incompatible for some reason. I can't be sure because I can't check out every single mod out of 200, though I did update the ones that need it. I also didn't download any new mods either. I'd admit that my mods aren't optimized the best. They're just disabled/enabled until Fallout 4 doesn't crash. Maybe I'm just missing something simple, but everything was running fine before a Vortex update. I am having the same problem. Over A year ago I started modding and only ever used vortex. It worked fine, had no issues. Then I lost my rig, and now just a year later, I got another one and started to installing and modding Fallout 4 again. The game ran fine for one day, then started getting 'couldn't read arguements' and vortex diagnostic saying it couldn't find the F4SE.log file. No one seemed to help, just suggest I installed it wrong in the first place...so I went to uninstall and reinstall everything again, following instructions for manual install. Still same error. Some suggested I try to launch the game from the fallout 4 folder from the f4se launcher, so I did, and it worked and so did the game...was sorta happy except that the game would CTD sometimes, then would not start again until after I went to a different profile and like my test one that only has F4SE enabled.. Then go back into profile and the game would start and get past the menu and load menu. Play for hours then exit the game and fine, then try to go back in and it's the same. Then I tried to back up files into onedrive and they tried to access the vortex saves folder, and the program went hogwild ballistic, deleted records, deleted plugins, etc. I had to restore my vortex from the previous day and then reinstall all mods I had installed since then. I had to clean all the DLC's and it was a hot mess...don't use onedrive to back up your files...disastrous.I never had any problems with vortex until I started this new install in March when I got this rig. So basically, not liking it at all. I'm thinking of installing an old version of it and seeing if things goes well, and then updating that one. And no one has a fix for the 'couldn't read arguements' problem so still using my workaround using a shortcut to the F4SE launcher and playing that way instead of within vortex. It's all made me want to change mod organizers to like MO2 that all my friends are so absolutely adore and hate vortex even though they never used it. I like vortex and would love some real solutions instead of the usual 'you installed it wrong, or it's a mod thing when all these mods I've used worked perfectly fine just a year ago, and have updated versions since I had to go and download all the mods again....not easy after the Nexudous that happened after the collections feature was announced.I wonder do you still have problems with it or did you find a solution other than loading an older version of it? HeyYou
Can you start a NEW game? I use Vortex to manage my mods. That's it. I have shortcuts to the game exe, or script extender exe files to actually play the game. I also make sure steam is running before I start the game. (steam does not automatically start with windows on my machine. I use it for more than just gaming, so, when I want to play, I start steam manually.) My games are stable, and run just fine. rmm200
You are replying to a three month old post. They either found a solution, or gave up. Doubt if they will see your post.
