Vortex Not Opening

So I open vortex and I get the little splash screen right before it crashes and I've done everything I can to try and fix it uninstall and reinstall uninstall and restart, power cycle, restored windows and completely factory reset my pc and its still not launching even checked in firewall settings nothing blocked. So I don't know what to do maybe just wait for a new version to come out or something.

Sounds frustrating. Do you have any other problems running programs on your PC? Restoring and/or factory resetting your PC is only necessary if it is infected with a virus or has other broken system software that causes crashes. To keep my PC running properly, I use Avast One software. You might want to look into something like that to help you maintain your PC in top condition.

 

Regarding Vortex, did you download it from this page (click link)? Vortex at Modding Tools - Nexus Mods

 

Don't download Vortex from any site other than Nexus Mods. It's their program and they keep it up to date. You will also need to install dotNET version 6 (see the link under 'Requirements' on the Vortex Nexus Mods page) which is also available for free from Microsoft. The Microsoft page for dotNET will step you through that install process. It is very easy. Install dotNET first before you try to install Vortex. Vortex will not work right without it.

 

The Vortex page includes videos regarding how to install and use the program. They are a little dated, but the process is still the same even if some of the features have changed a bit over time. Take a few minutes to review them. I pause how-to videos at each step to make sure I am following the steps correctly.

 

I have been using Vortex since it was in the alpha stage of development. It is one of the easiest programs to install and use that I have ever had. Don't give up!

I have the same problem too. It worked for me until a few hours ago. If I start it it doesn't work and closes after the logo.

I tried reinstalling it but it does the same thing.

I reinstalled the .net but nothing changes.

So running and reinstalling it doesn't change, it doesn't work anymore :/

If your Vortex state has somehow been corrupted (usually due to anti-virus apps) then you can reset Vortex by deleting or renaming the %appdata%\Vortex folder

I renamed the old folder and did some comparative tests and found that the problem was in the state.v2 folder.

But even copying the files and trying to show vortex the position of skyrim and fallout4 the "never installed" mods remained. Eventually after a few hours I deleted everything and now I'm reinstalling everything from scratch, including collections.

I wonder what created this problem, I don't know if there is, but a wiki would be needed to try to fix this problem as painlessly as possible. What I found on the net didn't help me. I just hope it doesn't happen again!
