Malevolution
I'd like to ask which mods are absolutely essential to you :geek: as I am returning to F4 after a long hiatus. I have yet to complete a playthrough, so I'm most interested in mods that fix broken things, and those that increase FPS. To give you an example, I'd say that Project Nevada, (rebalancing ONLY), is in my list of absolute essentials for Fallout: New Vegas. So are many performance-increasing mods whose names I can't remember... It has been quite a while! Thanks!
RoNin1971
IF you're interested in building settlements: Place everywhere is absolutely essential, imho. (& that requires F4SE) It takes away the red, "you can't place that here" annoyance.
AbsolutGrndZer0
Caliente's Better Bodies Enhancement and Looks Menu (with the Custom Compendium) for sure. CBBE has both nude and non-nude options.Beyond that, I'd definitely say Everybody's Best Friend is a must if you are a fan of Dogmeat. Basically it restores him to the way he was in beta, he becomes a secondary companion that you can have at all times. In fact, you'll even see that a lot of the base game dialogue has options for him being there. Like one NPC says "What about her friend and the dog?"Then lastly, I'd say Combat Zone Restored is a great one. Long story short, originally they'd planned for the Combat Zone to be an actually functioning arena and you would unlock Cait by fighting her, but due to a few bugs and time constraints, they decided to scrap it and just have you destroy the Combat Zone. So this most restores most of it (nearly all the dialouge is there, other than a line or two where Tommy misgenders the female player as the voice lines for the female SS were not finished. Also, the bartender doesn't work and occasionally the lift will bug out and combatants will end up fighting in the basement. What I do is hard save before I enter then quicksave before any fights or such.)

I wouldn't (/didn't) call it 'essential' but yeah, I never play without it :) Include the K9 Tactical Harness with that. To keep her alive a bit longer and carry more stuff. RexDarvog
I've never needed to have essential mods only on my main machine before, but I had done something similar for a mobile Fallout 4 and Skyrim gaming rig that needed a little more pizazz than plain vanilla.I think my essential mods then were a Scar-H, M1 Garand, M14, a light hair mod, Mine! Seagull sound replacer, Fallout 3 NV Ghoul replacer, Unofficial Fallout 4 Patch, and a few fps and performance mods because I was gaming on a ThinPad E-560. I think those were Fog Remover - Performance Enhancer II, Boston FPS Fix, Insignificant Object Remover, and Performance Of The Gods. I'm sure I'm missing a few other mods, but that was essentially the main list, along with essential tools like F4SE that are needed for any modded game.I chose a small list because of my laptop's magnanimous CPU, but aside from a few annoyances and being a bit boring, I'm also fine playing the vanilla game. I didn't exactly need any overhauls to fix issues or grievances, and I believe that I didn't need anything more clever than what I had.Personally, all two-hundred-something mods I have are pretty essential for my game. I considered taking my SFF machine and a small monitor with me instead of my laptop but I decided that traveling light was more interesting.
