KyteDevlin
Vortex recently stopped starting up on my pc. I am not receiving any errors, or unhandled exception notices. It simply does not get past the splash screen. All attempts to reinstall the application have yielded the same results. Reinstalling and repairing microsoft .net files have also not remedied the issue. If someone could offer some insight on the sudden occurrence that would be greatly appreciated. KyteDevlin
Removing Files in the AppData Folder also failed to remedy the issue. Files removed where blob storage, cache, gpucache, temp, local state, startup, and meta.db
Pickysaurus
If you remove the entire appdata folder it will reset Vortex. Failing that, something on your PC is causing it to crash on start.
KyteDevlin
If you remove the entire appdata folder it will reset Vortex. Failing that, something on your PC is causing it to crash on start. That is my general consesus, in the meantime ill turn towards alternative mod managers. I'm certain a PC reset will fix the issue, but I simply do not feel like doing it at the moment.
Solution KyteDevlin Posted March 8, 2023 Author Solution Share Posted March 8, 2023 (edited) You must go to your %appdata\Roaming\Vortex folder for your vortex and delete all cache folders and your network, state, and temp folder. (maybe not all but i didn't do it one at a time) as well as the files in the root folder. Local State, Network, startup, and vortex.Uninstalling, moving or changing the drives of vortex doesn't fix the problem because it doesn't remove your stored settings. This issue for me is now resolved. Hopefully this helps others when dealing with this issue. And maybe it will assist with other issues as well. The benefit being you do not have to delete your download folders and individual game folders so you do not need to obliterate your mod setups unless vortex forces you to when it tries to run.
