Tuf
I am just getting into Oblivion. Its helping me to ween myself from WoW. *twitch* So, what links on how to DL and what to do with files when starting? Specific mods I would like are texture packs, nude packs (bbws?), and horse mods. What are some favorites? Any opinions? Thanks! I have not even patched - is there a patch I should stick with? Then add mods to? -=T=-
LFact
Not an answer, but an advise:First, play it awhile without any mod. Then, once you decide what to use, check list of recommended mods(Link: UESP Wiki mod list page). Also, you'll need to check board stikies to learn how to use these mods. **Patch the game to latest version is a 'must' for using recent mods. apocalypse1138
There are a couple of mod lists here that can help you find mods you are interested in. One is mine and the other is Buddha's. Mine has about 80 links and comes with descriptions about those links and Buddha's has about 16k links. I would recommend getting both of them and browsing through them untill something catches your eye.
bben46
The only 'must haves' are OBSE and OBMM.Many mods will not work without the latest patch and/or OBSE.Without OBMM you will not be able to change the load order when you have conflicts. These are not technically mods, but utility programs that make other things possible. So be sure to read the install instructions first. Everything else is up to your personal taste.
dezdimona
if and when you add mods, always make a copy of your game data folder, add only one mod at a time,go in game, make sure it works properly before adding another one.Patience and verification will save you headaches down the road. Oruboris
The official un-official patch is a must for me.
Tuf
Thanks for taking the time to answer, folks. I appreciate it. I have been playing Oblivion of and on since it came out, but can honestly say that I have never put more into it then a passing glance. Maybe 4 hours tops. Now this time though, I cant put it down since last week! I was so blind, and caught up in the Blizzard/WoW stampede that I never gave it much chance. Boy was I wrong about Oblivion being "boring" because its solo game play. What a beautiful game Oblivion is! The other day I started looking at mods (I think it was Qarths Texture Pack 3 that caught my eye) and it looked even better, which got me surfing, and I was instantly over my head. It looked like this forum was alive and had recent posts so I joined. I'm glad I did, thanks again for your input and advice! -=T=- AKA: Lyzarde, Battle Mage >=)
jaysus
well if slof has her mods uploaded atm (sry i lost track) then get her "slofs horses" or somin along those lines... adds wonderful realistic looking horses much better than the vanilla ones... regarding OBSE... well i dunno... many people have trouble with that stuff... as a first start out in mods id pass it for now and get back to it if you really need it for somin like deadly reflex and such... jaysus capes and jaysus blades are wonderful mods too i must admit.. that guy is great :P nude mods? lol there are tons... just pick the one that looks the sexiest and is supported by those armors you want to wear... and maybe read some of the stickies, they tell you alot about mods and how they work and thus enable you to see conflicts as not all mods will work in harmony obviously
apocalypse1138
confirming that slof has re-uploaded that alienslof has uploaded at least some of her mods...-confirmed I second the recommendation on jaysus blades and jaysus capes (best mods I never knew about till I happened to come across them.) Also get mods that patch the game (unofficial patches) and get crash prevention mods, they save a lot of headache in the long run.
jaysus
yup the unofficial patch is indeed quite useful as it fixes tons of bugs the devs forgot about... @apokaloh thx for the flowers :D
