Chaosblade02
I believe Dezidimona reccomends it as the sacrifice item, and she's an Oblivion Goddess-- it just goes to show we all have different playing styles. It is logical to sacrifice the Azura's star if you want to do the main quest at a low level. I think the level req for that particular mission is level 2. I like to save the main quest for last, that way I can personally close every oblivion gate. Kenjatsu, anything goes in Oblivion, there really isn't a "best" way to play it. wasder
My characters are very unmagical compared to most of what I see here. My main character at the moment:Race: Dark ElfBirthsign: ThiefMajor Atributes: Strength & SpeedMajor skills:Light ArmourBladeMarksmanSneakDestructionAthleticsAcrobatics It's a good mix, besides, most magic that he can't do can be accomplished with enchanted items. musicpirate456
I usually stick with a bretonthief birthsignspecializing in:-Blade (I prefer swords to hammers/axes)-Alteration (for the unlock spells, before i get the skeleton key)-Destruction (hell, this needs no reason)-Illusion (for invisibility spells)-Mysticism(for soul trapping)-Alchemy (poisons on a sword make the game so much more fun)-Restoration (fortification of strength and blade and magika and health and why wouldn't you want to do this one?) I start off doing KOTN, then theif's guild, then the fighter's, then SI, then the DB, then Mage's, and then I do the Daedric quests. Then I look for mods like Lost Spires.and then maybe I do the main quest, or maybe I just start over. Favored Armor & Weapon Combo:(Sweet Combo)Leather Boots (ench with 20% shield)Sack Cloth Pants (ench with 20% shield)Collared Shirt (ench with 20% shield)2 rings (ench with 20% shield each)Amulet (ench with 50 magic increase)Shadowrend (the sword) i prefer the unarmored simply because I fell it enhances roleplaying by allowing me to feel normal when walking around the streets of a city
Oruboris
Music pirate: Shield effects max at 85% total for armor and enchantments. If any of that is armor, going over 85 means you'll still have maximum protection even after taking a few blows. But when it's all magic and won't wear out, you can use some other enchanting slots to boost other attributes. I used to do the K9s first, too, but got tired of the judgemental pop ups everytime I do something bad. I do the 'join the mages' first to have access to the enchanting and spellmaking altars, then the thieves for the cowl-- just my play style, there is no wrong way. DremoraChurl
I usually prefer to be a mage. With oblivion's combat, if there's one thing that annoys me it's getting blocked :). My head says wear heavy armor (I don't think Oblivion punishes it enough), but it would feel too strange and unimmersive, so I stick with cloth. So I kind of miss out on upgrading equipment, on the other hand full-on mages have a lot more fun at the spellmaking altar. I usually have a Breton (for any class), and thief spellsign (ditto). My custom classes are basically (mage with block) or (warrior with security). I'm going to try a warrior with resto and mysticism, maybe forsaking security (OOO includes bashing locks). I always use OOO for static(ish) enemies, and a fixed +3 attribs mod.
Chaosblade02
I was wondering if there was a mod that expands the caps on the spellmaking altars. For example allowing you to make a 300 shock damage for 1 second on touch, sure you could always extend the duration and still do 300 damage. Or make a buff with a duration longer than 120 seconds. Some of the spells you buy or get from quests exceed these caps. This might sound like a stupid question, but I'm still new to mods with Oblivion, and I'm not sure what you mean by OOO, can someone explain? SavageArtistry
Most of the time I'm using an (edited) Gothic Breton female vampire who specializes in magic and swordsmanship. Actual choice of profession varies, as it depends on if I'm using heavy armor or light armor, so usually sorcerer or nightblade.
