Deleted54170User
I have been studying every post I can find focused on Vista operating systems. I wonder if anyone has the Vista Home Premium or anyone has the Vista Ultimate who is playing Fallout 3 ? I posted the fact I found two folders within the Vista Ultimate pack 64 bit version installed on my machine. I examined a standard set up for Vista Home Premium in a store and it has two Program Files folders too. Program Files and Program Files (x86). Games with 32 bit structuring we install all go into the Program Files (x86) so the issue about installing the game in a different place then Program Files isn't part of Vista Users problems, (unless, by some chance, earlier versions of Vista I don't know about do not have two Program Files folders). I need some one else who has the Vista operating system to help me understand what is going on with my machine. I bought the Vista Ultimate Operating System when they first came out. Anyone besides me have the Vista set up as I have described with Fallout 3 installed?
muppetsoup
Only 64bit should have the (x86) folder. That's for 32bit apps that are run via wow64. They are not required to be installed there, it's just a bookkeeping thing. In all likelihood the system you saw at the store was 64bit as well. Other than that I'm not sure what your question is. SpartanSamuel
I'm on a Vista Ultimate, and I do have two Program Files folders, albeit not the kind you're talking about. I have one under my Account name and then I have one under my C: drive. Personally, I installed Fallout 3 directly to my desktop. EDIT: Then again, I'm on a 32 bit. Deleted54170User
That explains one point. All the Vista packages on a variety of new computers are being set up with 64 bit after 09-19-2008. Fallout 3 came out 10-28-2008. I looked at an HP Touchsmart IQ815 for instance and it is set up in 64 bit. I have my PC set up with 64 bit too as I had read there were going to be some games that could be played that were 64 bit dependent. Myself with the 1 1/2 year old computer I have now I had a few problems with CTDs, not as many as problems as I had with BSod's, and not as many of either I have had after I signed in with GFW Live to get the DLC Op Anchorage. It may be that Microsoft is not taking into account the various ways we may install the Vista Operating System when their patch creating authors were structuring the code for Patch 1.5. I am going to uninstall the game again. No more GFW on the PC for me. The Microsoft Windows Version PC, I might add. I discovered this after posting at 11:57 am. 12:07 PM (The following is referring to Legacy software upgrades and some upgrades that could cause CD and DVD Players to have conflicts.) Here's the Link to it. To install the Windows Vista Application Compatibility Update, visit the following Microsoft Web site:http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com (http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com)Note After you install this update, a CD device or a DVD device may not work correctly. If you select the device in Device Manager and then view the properties for the device, you may receive the following error message:The software for this device has been blocked from starting because it is known to have problems with Windows. Contact the hardware vendor for a new driver. (Code 48) ADDITIONALLY: I thought, "It could be fouling the CD or DVD drive enough to cause CVertiF to overload and crash the game. I wonder?I wonder, because, two days ago after making a few adjustments I played the game for 2 hours without a problem. The next day I played the game for five minutes and tried to save, Crash. And rebooted the game and five minutes later tried to save, crash, etc..
