Now I have an annoying problem, and I'm not sure which one caused it. Fawkes seems to have abandoned his gatling laser in favor of whatever he can pick up, be it a hunting rifle or a missile launcher. His sledge also doesn't appear in his inventory, but I'm not really concerned about that as I'd rather him use his gatling anyway. Anyway, here's my mod list in load order.. any ideas where to start would be appreciated! Wandik Posted June 8, 2009 Share Posted June 8, 2009 you can point at any mod changing companions... what about this one: "EssentialFollowers+Caravans.esp"? if you want to correctly alter all your possible companions behaviour, with buch of other features, use THIS MOD. to use it's benefits, you'll have to put it AFTER all other companion-changing mods in your load order... evilneko Posted June 8, 2009 Author Share Posted June 8, 2009 That one, IIRC, only flags followers and caravans as essential. It's also the only mod I have that directly affects followers, I think. Now that I think about it, the first time I saw Fawkes use something other than his gatling laser was in a large-scale engagement with Enclave troops, during which he could have "died," though I was too busy dodging fire to notice. I just saw him suddenly wielding a missile launcher and went WTF? And that mod looks fairly cool. I think I'll do some experimenting later tonight. Edit: OK, it seems to have been T3T Weapon Tweaks which originally caused Fawkes to abandon his gatling in favor of a scavenged hunting rifle, missile launcher, or chinese AR (yep, seen him use all three at various times, oddly, he flat out refuses to grab a laser, even when he's completely unarmed). I went back to a previous save where Fawkes was still happily using his gatling, hopped over to a location where I pretty much always run into something and is close to an enclave camp anyway, and kept an eye on him. He didn't get knocked out (still had essential mod loaded) and at the first opportunity, he swiped a Chinese AR from a fallen Talon merc. Since he didn't "die" I decided it almost certainly wasn't the essential mod, got out and disabled the only mod I could think of that might make an AR look "better" than his gatling: T3T Weapon Tweaks. Repeated the process, same save, same location, no scavenging from Fawkes. Hooray, right? Not quite. On loading my current save, I found Fawkes's Gatling gone. I know at some point, I took it away from him and stuck it in my safe, but it was gone from there too. Couldn't seem to spawn up one with the console and give it to him either. Just for the hell of it, I took him into combat and dropped one at his feet. He didn't pick it up. So now I have a different problem: how to get Fawkes back to normal. I can't seem to place the damn thing in his inventory (perhaps there's a console command for that?) so even with a mod, I don't think I could force him to use it. I could give him Vengeance, but I don't think my electron charge pack supply would hold out long enough for it to be worthwhile. :( Could give him a regular minigun, got plenty of 5mm I never use, but then he loses some of his...um... Wandik Posted June 9, 2009 Share Posted June 9, 2009 nice researching, indeed... i've never played with companions, i'm just too lazy to care about them, keep them alive etc... in fact, it's much harder to survive a fight, if you have to take care about the follower, which is really eager to die :/ couple of days ago, i tried the phalanx - with this mod, it's really more fun then without... i like travelling vasteland with "band of brothers" :) it has some very nice features, including the option to "reset followers" which gives them default equip :) i suggest you to try it :D Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Can it "lock" a follower to certain equipment, to prevent them scavenging? Nevermind, I'll download it and find out. I'd sure like to keep T3T Weapon Tweaks, though I'm not as attached to that as I am Skullmosher's Laser Pack. The latter is a must, IMO. The laser rifle's pathetic without it. I've found life easier after picking up Fawkes. Previously I had left Dogmeat at home, being that I didn't want to take care of him and he was crampin' my sneaky style anyway. Oddly enough, tromping around with both Fawkes and the mutt has proved useful on occasion, especially in open spaces. Even without Dogmeat, last night while I was testing, Fawkes provided such a distraction to the huge (MMM-ified) Enclave camp near Northwest Seneca that I was able to remain [HIDDEN] and literally sneak around behind all of them. (at least four officers, and more than a half-dozen power armors) The extra firepower doesn't hurt either. :thumbsup: And of course, there's comedic value in a big green super mutant following a little blonde pig-tailed girl around. :biggrin: Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
