CourierandWanderer
This thread has been written in response to another thread I had previously written, and you will find that in this link: http://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/1281783-fallout-1-can-be-remade/. If you have read that link, you will understand that I am accepting advice from the modder who replied to it.I am willing to learn from any of you on how to use the GECK editor. I know how to edit NPCs, items, and weapons. I just recently learned on how to start a new world space, but don't know how to edit the terrain and textures. Also, I do not understand the GECK's camera control. I would also like to know how to write, edit, and most of all understand scripts. That is all I ask for now until I can come up with something else. The GECK is an advanced program, and I struggle with it. I want to learn the true nature of making mods. Your help in giving advice and teachings can mean a lot to me. CourierandWanderer
Okay, I'm creating new map interior cells by duplicating existing ones and removing its contents, just like they say in the link: http://www.youtube.c...h?v=Y2xskfNS8HE. However, there is one small problem. Every time I try to make the cell blank, it leaves behind a background image looking like cell parts. How do I remove that? In fact, is there another way to create an interior cell? And yes, I deleted the NavMesh. If you must know, I am using the FNV GECK, as indicated in the thread title. CourierandWanderer
Nevermind. Seems to be a glitch in the editor. I saved it, logged out of it, went back on, and voila!
CourierandWanderer
I found the script tutorial from the GECK site, but I still remain confused by it. Can anyone explain how scripts are used for triggering events in the game?
chucksteel
scripting can be complicated you'll need to look at vanilla script or scripts from other mods to see what the do and how they work. a simple example would be a trigger box that has a script on it. Once the player enters the box some NPC's that weren't there at first get enabled. I've been modding Fallout since FO3 was released and I'm still not a very competent scripter and only have a rudimentary understanding of how they work. There are many good scripters here on the nexus, don't worry too much about scripts until you need them and then ask questions about a particular script and you'll get the help you need. No one will be able or willing to just tell you everything about them.
