Hi im having my steam programs and games(skyrim se) on a external (ssd) (g:... drive
For skyrim se i use vortex , which currently is installed on the g drive as well.
g:\vortex
g:\vortex_mods with all the mods for skyrim , skyrimse and oblivion
Now as i have two pc, i thought i just could connect my games ssd to the other pc, but found some issues
-steam can be installed on the new pc on the same folder g... with any issues, and then i can run some games
But for skyrim se, i use vortex.
Now vortex saves a lot of information (profiles) on the c:\user\appdata\roaming, which ofc is not on the new pc (or on c drive when reinstall windows)
the module themselves I have set to download to g:\vortex_mods.
which can be set as the mod download folder for the specific game wo problems
well on install vortex on the new it says "folder is not empty" when i chose the g:\vortex_mods\skyrimse..., which in the current setup is silly as yes i have my modules in the folder. I assume its the listofmodules thats empty so vortex wants a "clean" install
So it was not as easy as i thought just to run skyrim se on a new pc / after reinstall windows
so regarding a backup to copy my vortex to a new pc (or reinstall vortex after a windows reinstall) :
-need a backup of appdata\roaming\vortex, to have my profiles
-a backup of vortex listofmodules
is it possible to streamlining the folders u use a bit, so its a bit easier to just "port" my external ssd to a new pc ?
Sry I have not grasped the logic behind vortex use of folders for data so the text above seems a bit fluffy.
But it would be easy to try my setup.
install skyrim se /steam /vortex on an external ssd, connect it to a new pc, and se how difficult it is to get vortex working with the "already" downloaded mods / profiles on the new pc ?
also ofc it should still be able to connect the ssd to the original pc, without any changes, so i can continue skyrim se there
Also there could be something about "vortex " backup i do not know about,
