raphaell666
Well, I'm simply addicted to samurais. I love mainly the animes Samurai Champloo and Rurouni Kenshin (Samurai X) (I am downloading some others), and I love games where you control a samurai or similar, such as ninjas. Actually, I love almost anything about the, hmm, feudal japan, at the medieval era, don't know exactly how to say it. It's mainly the Edo period and the Meiji restoration (or smtg like that) that I like, but well I'm going way too offtopic. :P Thing is, I've noticed there are few fighting animation mods (at least from what I've seen), I do not know if it's because it's too hard to edit it or whatever other reason, and I was wondering if it'd be possible to make a (or some) samurai fighting style(s), with two-handed katanas. I was thinking about using it with MAO (Mayu's Animation Overhaul) which makes basically your character have a unique fighting style, different from all (or most) other NPCs. I don't know if anyone is interested/willing to help with this, I myself am going to try taking a look into modding oblivion, though I'm not so sure if I'll be in fact able to, unless editing animations is rather easy. What I basically was thinking about, would be a samurai where it's idle (prepared to fight) position would be with the 2handed katana sheathed with his hands prepared to unsheathe it, when we press to attack he (rather rapidly) unsheathes, attacks (maybe stays the whole consecutive combo without sheathing it again (even if it's few hits)), and then at the moment we stop attacking he sheathes the sword again (hope I'm being clear). Power attacks he'd, with the sword sheathed, "charge" the attack, and then unleash it. Oh, also, it'd be nice if he stayed with his left hand all or most of the time apparently holding the sheathe. Though I don't think it's possible to use the sheathe as a possibly off-hand weapon or shield, is it? I don't know, just something I was thinking, I personally think it'd be awesome if something like this would be in fact possible. What do you think/say about this? Is there any samurai fan modder around? EDIT: Just for some ideas:One of these could be the idle position:http://www.flowerstorm.net/disa/Pictures/K...nti-kenshin.jpghttp://fc03.deviantart.com/images3/i/2004/...ura_Kenshin.jpgThis one could possibly be the blocking position:http://www.geocities.com/Tokyo/Subway/8516/kenshin2.jpg I'll see if I can find anything else to add here. Vergil from Devil May Cry 3 while using his "Yamato" sword (I'm pretty sure it's a katana) would be something near to what I'm talking about here. But I can't find a good video of him using yamato which depicts him attacking and sheathing the sword again. Oh, just a thing, the katana would be two handed, but he'd only use the right hand for the attacks, while the left hand stays at the sheath. Rifl3M4n
Hey raphaell, although I don't think i'm the guy your looking for, I think that making the drawn weapon appear sheathed is possible and some of the attack animations you talk about seem interesting. The one thing I don't think will be possible is the sheath used as an offhand item due to the complexity of the situation. However, as for the other aspects, I have a few people I can talk to and see what the possibilities are! Thanks for the idea! ~Rifl3M4n~

I was already expecting for it to be (perhaps nearly) impossible to use the sheath as an offhand item. Thanks a lot for the constructive criticism, I really appreciate it. ^_^ theres a mod that mades you use a on ehanded weapon with a two handed stance and attacksI don't know if you've read what I wrote, but that's not what I'm looking for. I know some mods like what you mentioned, but I was looking for a unique one like I wrote in my original post here. Note:I'll edit the op with some pictures and will later try adding a video. :]
Slawter500
the sheath could possibly work, But i doubt in the way you wanted, and it'd be alot of work, if you ripped the mesh from the sheath and used it in the shield slot it might work but it'd probably be buggy and difficult to make. That was just a thought that crossed my mind, now that I thought better about it, a sheath wouldn't be even near to effectively a defensive item, as it's not made of steel afaik, and I've never seen anyone actually using it as a shield or smtg, lol. Better use the sword instead, like in the blocking pic I added to the op. About having the left hand apparently "holding" the sheathe, would that be possible? And also about the idle position being with the weapon still sheathed and only unsheathing it only when it's actually going to attack, can you tell me if that's by any means possible? Thanks for the info. ^_^
Slawter500
Im not certain, To hold something iin the players left hand without it being a shield is tricky, it would probably hhave to occupy a left ring slot but that would probably look very weird. And i dont know im useless at animations lol. Good luck

Good luckHmm, well, maybe, he wouldn't actually need to be holding the sheath, the sheath could stay at it's normal position (left side below the waist, don't know if this is the correct word in english), just his left hand would stay there, apparently holding it, not actually holding it, and therefore not actually moving it. The sheath wouldn't need to move like a shield or a offhand item, just stay there. Thanks anyways.
LHammonds
The most fun I've had playing a samurai is in the Soul Calibur series...playing as Mitsiguri. I have yet to see a my dynamic sword fight on any platform than SC2 with two skilled Mitsi warriors. VERY FUN...so I know what you mean. I hope you've found the samurai armor and weapons here on TESNexus. ;) LHammonds

I love creating a custom samurai and using Mitsurugi's style (first it was SC 3 at ps2, now I have the one for xbox 360, SC 4). And yes, I sure did find the samurai armor and weapons, and I love them. ^_^ Another game I really enjoyed that I recall now is Shinobido, rather unknown, but I love it. You use a ninja on it however. I'm at the moment "patiently" waiting for a release of Way of The Samurai 3 for xbox 360, which currently only exists in Japan afaik. >< And it looks like it'll be awesome. The only thing missing for oblivion is the fighting animation, which I'm having a really hard time trying to master (so far no progress at all). :P
