by looking at past skyrim experience. i wish they re basically just fake light a.k.a no-casting-shadow light. maybe 3 or 5 actors at once might be okay.

THAT would make they turn on light source at night

Which going to increase graphical demands.

Highly possible to cause frequent CTDs.

FNV are quite optimized in cell design, as in they dont stuff too much in a limited zone. As in making it lightened. You dont feel the burden.

The sole exception is Hoover Dam 2nd Battle, in both the dam's upper, and the power plant. Because it allow 3D design, they can stuff it more and it can lead to bloody heavy load. Specifically, Hoover Dam's topside battle can and will cause loss of texture, flicker, CTD etc...

Same situation is quite common in Fallout3's design (because FNV take lesson from F3's problems). There are a lot of areas quite heavy due to lots of light source.

Take Rivet City Market for example. In vanilla design it's quite heavy already (lots of NPCs moving about and lots of light source). Install any mods that mess with this area could make them noticeable heavier. Like, adding two or three fire barrel as light source could make you aware of that right away.

----

Anyway, if you simply want some (one) light source as a tool to illuminate while playing, there's 2 mods for you

Animated Immersive Lanterns

Pip-Boy Light Lantern Replacer

You can try if it fit your requirement.

Yeah, light sources and NPCs don't mix, we made an island home where the lights are on a timer and kick in as it gets dark, if there are too many NPCs present the frame rate tanks when the lights come on.
