New Lands - bear with me

Before I have any mods jump me, this is not a general request. When I browse through the files on the main site, I notice one thing among all the "new lands" mods that is consistent, whether they are good mods or bad. They are all NOT FINISHED.

What I would like to see is a large scale mod, (like a city and multiple villages) with NPC's, schedules, full dialogue, multiple quests, new items, new buildings, maybe a new faction or two, and FULL voiceovers.

There is nothing more disappointing to me then seeing a mod like D U N E, with so much promise, only to find out that the buildings aren't finished, and there are not even any NPC's... :wallbash:

While it is an extremely large undertaking for one person, it is not so much for a team. I would love to see this, or, if one exists that I've looked over (unlikely), could someone link me up?

Again, new cells, new buildings, new NPC's with full schedules AND voiceovers, new quests, maybe a faction...

I understand that this is difficult, but someone has to be either working on something like it or it must have already been done.

While true it is that many people are working on large scale mods, most aren't "new lands". When I myself look for mods like this...I only care for new places to explore such as villages and caves and special wilderness (much like the Yume no Amaterasu player home)

A promising looking one "in the makes" as it were, is a very recently discussed topic called the "Lands of Zedar" and the creator is gathering a team. So all I can say is a little more patience should pay off in the long run

The problem with new lands and large mods is that it is almost impossible to keep a team together. Most modders are working on their own mods and simply do not have the time to invest in someone else's mod. My mod, The Pellucidar Project has been in the works for more than seven months but it is still my mod, I am the only one working on it. I myself have helped out on a few other mods but it takes time away from my own mod to do so. A large mod that has a tremendous possibility of being completed is The Colored Rooms Project that VagrantO has been working on for some time now.

People post ideas for large mods all the time, they try to recruit modders for their teams and sometimes get a pretty good start but then the team and the mod falls apart. Look at how many of the mods in the new lands boast great ideas but haven't been updated in months or even years, they rarely get finished. There are two things that you have to except if you plan to make a large worldspace with new lands. One is that you will have to do almost all of the work yourself, without outside help or a team, and two. You will have to learn all the programs that are necessary for the mod to be completed.

In order to create my mod I have learned and/ or learning to use

Blender

Nifskope

The Gimp

TES4Gecko

Paint.net

Wrye Bash

and an assortment of smaller programs like DDS converter

I also had to learn how to add plugins to these programs and what plugins to add. No small task in itself.

Then there are the thousands of tutorial that you will need to read or go through in order to be able to use those programs, not to mention the tutorials on quest and script writing.

The truth is that most people are not willing to work that hard for something. People loose interest and move on, they give up. I think that any large mod that gets finished owes it's existence to a single determined individual no matter how many people worked on it. If anyone wants a large mod with new items, lands, worlds and creatures, if they want new worldspaces to explore, then they should donate a little of their own time and skills to a well established mod like The Colored Rooms project.
