Desktop vortex app not able to authenticate

When I open Vortex, it tells me that it cannot look for an update, verify mods or authenticate. I follow the steps to log in and on the webpage it takes me to, it says I have authenticated successfully and then opens the nexus homepage.

However, the desktop app never actually acknowledges this and stays logged out. I also tried using the token login method but when I hit save, nothing happens. I have tried restarting the computer and redownloading vortex but nothing seems to help

I tried submitting this through the vortex bug reporter but it just says "submitting feedback" forever without doing anything. Can I get some help with this please?

Is looks like something on your PC is blocking Vortex from communicating with the internet at all. I'd check your firewall, anti virus or other security apps first.
