OBSE Won't Run - New Oblivion Player Trouble

Hey all, I've been playing Skyrim on PC for a while and got the anthology for Christmas. I have played Oblivion on console and was pretty stoked to have it on PC. However, I have recently run into trouble with OBSE. I am able to launch my game fine from the normal Oblivion launcher but the one for OBSE simply does not. It starts loading, places a small black window in the top left corner of my screen, then my screen goes black and finally, it returns to desktop like nothing had happened.

I only have mods on which are the following:
Keychain - http://www.nexusmods.com/oblivion/mods/3409/?
Oblivion Character Overhaul - http://www.nexusmods.com/oblivion/mods/43612/?

See You Sleep - http://www.nexusmods.com/oblivion/mods/16005/?
Unofficial Oblivion Patch - http://www.nexusmods.com/oblivion/mods/5296/?
Unofficial Shivering Isles Patch - http://www.nexusmods.com/oblivion/mods/10739/?

Any help welcome! I'm not very tech-savvy so please be nice and helpful :)

Hmmmm, I'm not an expert on OBSE, but, do you remember what you did immediately before the OBSE launcher stopped working and causing an immediate CTD?

Which OBSE version is it? Have you tried to uninstall OBSE and install the latest version? I had some issues with the 21 beta, but since I updated to 21 final it works smooth and flawless.

I'm downloading the Keychain mod, it requires OBSE 17a, pretty outdated, to see if it could be the cause.

Cheers!

If I'm not mistaken the Anthology version of Oblivion is a disk version that requires Steam, correct? Normally the disk version of the game (that only uses a CD key for validation) uses the disk version instructions for installing and starting the game with OBSE. I'm wondering if for the Anthology version of Oblivion you actually need to use the Steam version install and starting method.

I'd like to back up to the OBSE issue before attacking the mod problem.

Prior to installing any mods and OBSE how did you start Oblivion? I've seen the Anthology in stores, and saw that it required Steam, but don't know what the options are for starting the game (in other words via desktop shortcut that points to Oblivion_Launcher.exe or in the same manner as you would start the download Steam version).
