esuriddick
Hello: I'm wondering if it is possible to copy the bone set and the bone weights attached to one object to another object, just like the Bone Weight Copy script in Blender? If yes, how? I'm still new to 3ds Max. Best regards, Riddick.
kormgar
No idea how to do it in 3ds Max, but I'll be releasing a stand-alone version of my Blender Boneweight copy script in the next week or so (Python and Pyffi based). I can send you a link to the current seam mender beta (which, with the right settings, acts as a stand-alone boneweight copy script) if you're interested. esuriddick
Ok, thanks :) I was asking on 3ds Max because it is where I do most of my work. Where will you release it?
kormgar
I've sent you a link to the current beta. I haven't decided where I'll release it. There'll probably be a thread over at the niftools forum, and maybe a few other places. I keep meaning to start uploading some of my tools here, maybe it's time. esuriddick
I think the community would be grateful for your work ;)
kormgar
I've uploaded my new Stand-alone BoneWeight Copy Tool that can do everything from copy a single bone to rig an entire unskinned mesh. http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/49368/? It's a *very* new beta, so I fully expect unexpected bugs once the community starts testing it on some of the more exotic nifs out there, but it's shown good results with my testers so far. Please, don't hesitate to make comments, suggestions, and most importantly, please report any bugs you encounter.
Ghogiel
There are a few ways. The skin wrap modifier would be the first thing to look at.
