Any one of these know specifically for bloating? I know sounds of skyrim is considered to, but I found an older version that doesn't cause bloating (as it was before the sliders were introduced, which apparently caused it).

Update: Seems my file was 20 mb about five saves ago (though I use a lot of autosaves, so that's more time ago than you'd think). Obviously a mod has caused this bloat.

Okay, problem. I've removed all mods installed after 10/6 (which is when I had a 20 mb save file) and my save file is still upwards of 60 mb. Help would be appreciated.

rremove crimson tide(its unstable)

deadly spell impacts is also unstable(just remove the esp and use the textures)

you are also missing unnoficial dawnguard patch(and the load order of the unnoficial patches is wrong if you use version 2.0 )

the only one i know it could cause save bloat is crimson tide(the other either are safe or i dont know)

if you have removed some mods before they could let some scripts running causing the bloat

as far as i know theres not much to do besides start a new game without some of your mods

I removed Crimson Tide, but the bloat still occurs. I had had this installed long before I had gotten any bloat, though.

 

The mods I installed from 10/6 (before bloat) onwards were:

 

Immersive Icicles

Saturalia (Christmas in Skyrim)

Lord Balmer's Playground

The Shadow of Meresis

Immersive Looting

 

And I think that's it. Removing these did not ease the save bloat, though.

Why is this important? My save file was up to 1.2 gb and game ran fine. I removed most of my saves to another folder and got it down to 80 mb for now.

First things first, I would suggest cleaning your dirty mods, removing any incompatible obsolete or redundant mods (for instance you have all three cloaks of skyrim esps active, and only need one), and install any necessary compatibility patches (for example dance of death dawnguard edition). This may not reduce your save game size but it should improve general game stability.

 

Secondly, add the following lines to your SKSE.ini file:

ClearInvalidRegistrations=1

this should help to reduce the size of the your save files (if the bloat is being caused by rogue scripts)

How many hours on that save? My 46 and some change hours save is only a bit over 8 meg.......

Probably quite a lot of hours, but the problem is that about five saves ago it was only 20 MB, whereas now it's up to 70 and counting about another megabite per autosave. The "five saves ago" save was in october, but I haven't played often since then. I've removed the mods I installed since that time, but it hasn't helped. I also tried cleaning it with Skyrim Save Cleaner and putting that line in SKSE.ini, but it's still only increasing.
