If this persists, please delete "C:\Users\myname\AppData\Roaming\Vortex\skyrimse\masterlist" to force Vortex to download a new copy. Details: Network connection closed unexpectedly. Troubleshooting:I've added vortex as an exception for both Windows Defender and the windows firewall, specifically added Vortex.exe as an exception and the vortex folder (C:\Users\myname\AppData\Roaming\Vortex) and deleted the masterlist, which worked until i closed and reopened vortex and the masterlist error came back. I have no VPN enabled.Turned off automatic updates.
Platinumbers
Vortex version is 1.8.5 actually, my bad.
Pickysaurus
These two errors are the result of Vortex being unable to contact GitHub. This seems likely to be caused by something in your setup messing with Vortex's network connectivity (possibly Firewalls)?

This seems likely to be caused by something in your setup messing with Vortex's network connectivity (possibly Firewalls)? The thing is, it was and has been working perfectly for a long while now, it's only a few days ago that these errors popped up, and as far as i'm aware my network hasn't changed since then. I made a new inbound and outbound rule in the windows firewall for github.com to allow the connection on github's addresses just now but that didn't change anything. I'm at a loss for what to do to get it working again.

Started 2 days ago and adding exceptions through my firewall did not help. Does anyone know if the game is playable with this error or am I forced to wait this out? Afraid to try myself. Pickysaurus
If you can't download the update it's not a huge problem as they changes will be bundled with the next major release. The ECONNRESET error shows that something is intercepting and shutting down your connection.
Platinumbers
Can I still play my modded playthrough of Skyrim: Special Edition? or do I just have to wait for the next update of Vortex to fix the issue?
Arivael
So I was having this issue myself and the oddest thing seems to have fixed it, after trying all the file deletion, permission settings and clean reinstalls. Apparently all I had to do was open Vortex without Chrome open and yes I know how that sounds, don't know if it applies to any other browsers but if your having the 'Failed to install Extensions' error(s) close any and all browsers, close Vortex and then just open Vortex. Didn't work for me sadly, appreciate you trying to help. I think my setup hates the last vortex update for whatever reason, I guess I'll just wait for confirmation on whether I can still play my modded game with this error. Deleted180062886User
I apparently have fixed the problem by power cycling my router, hope this works for you, too
