Game Crashing When loading save Blockhead

Recommended Posts

hey, i've just started modding oblivion and i'm having issues with OCO2 and blockhead, i have checked other posts and no one seems to get a full answer, so i'll give it a try and be very specific.

my current mods are:

OBSE

Midas magic spells of aurum

A picks all

OCO2

HGEC

realistic water (https://www.nexusmods.com/oblivion/mods/37794)

Disenchant spell

robes over

argonian cone head fix

argonian tail reposition

and this: https://www.nexusmods.com/oblivion/mods/24078

OCO's compativility with hgec

OCO's eyelash fix

i have tried both the OMOD and manual instalations, the omod one just doesn't generate an .ini file, and when i launch it a message pops up saying ".../blockhead.dll was not designed for windows or has an error, reinstall" before launching, when i try to load a saved game it straight up closes, but only when there are a specific group of races present in the world. when i load a save from a high elf on an empty cell, it loads and my character has the placeholder "install blockhead" texture, but if i load one with an argonian character or use the racemenu and select argonian/orc/woodelf/catman, it just crashes. With the manual install, i can load the high elf character with the right texture, but still no luck with the argonian maid char.

OBSE is making secondary saves, so it's working, the manual Blockhead makes a .ini file so it's "working", what the hell do i do???

i tried running it without BF, and it loaded, my argonian loaded right but the orc and woodelf didn't. my partially racist game runs better without the damn mod.

Yes, blockhead is in the right directory, and yes, i tried unpluging esps of other mods, it didn't help.

please help me i am in pain i've been trying to make this work for 6 hours now i am suffering.

A couple of questions ...

How are you installing (I.e. manual copy/paste or a mod manager)?

In what order are you installing the listed mods?

A sound practice for installing mods that makes troubleshooting simpler is to test after each individual mod (except perhaps after installing mods that depend on other mods as masters) ... and always confirm that the base vanilla game is working before you start adding mods.

okay, i already said i tried both ways and neither worked, refer to the wall of text up there.

i've tried deactivacting every other mod and only trying with Blockhead and made a discovery, the game only crashes when i load an argonian, i tried loading in OCO2 and still the same, loads everything else but no money with the argonians, i guess it has to be a mod i installed that changes them without an esp and i forgot i installed, some file or archive has to be uncompatible with BH.

i'm gonna try to completely uninstall the game and all the mods and put them back one by one.

i hope i get a real person next time lmao

Btw, should other content mods (ex. Midas Magic, A takes all, Realistic water, disenchant spell, etc...) be installed after or before the OCO2 modpack (body replacers, BH, obse, OCO2 base, OCO2 eyelash and hgec fixes) ?

I won't be home (where my gaming computer is) until sometime in September so you'll need to settle what the old guy's noggin can remember but for certain from a clean vanilla install that has been confirmed as working the install order should be ...

1. OBSE (confirm it works by starting the game and looking for the OBSE co-save ... no co-save = OBSE not working)

2. Blockhead (confirm by finding the file Blockhead.ini in the same folder as Blockhead.dll).

3. Any body replacer you plan on using (for example HGEC, Roberts Male etc).

4. Oblivion Character Overhaul v2 base install.

5. The applicable OCOv2 body replacer add-ons for the corresponding body replacers you installed at step 3.

Other mods ... note that any that touch races at all may affect/break the OCO v2 install, you will need to research recommendations before install those mods.

Something else to be aware of is that not all races have an error face assigned in OCO v2 (meaning that if any race shows the Install Blockhead error face your OCO v2 install has failed.
