Millor1
It only tries downloading to mod organizer, which I had only used for skyrim. First I tried going into mod organizer, setting it to offline mode and trying to break every connection it had to nexus mods. Then I went to the API access on the nexus site and removing API connection to mod organizer and refreshing the one in vortex. Now I've completely uninstalled mod organizer off my PC, and the site still tries to download to it, but because it doesn't exist it just does nothing. I've gone into vortex and tried to get it to associate nexus download links with it many times over, and I'm logged into it with the same account I'm using on the site. I don't know what to do at this point. Edited July 29, 2023 by Millor1

TexArdvark
I recently found, through trial and error, that the easiest way to download from Nexus was to select the game and profile you want to deal with in Vortex, then look at the mods associated with it. At the bottom of the mods there’s a ‘yellow button’ that takes you to Nexus for more mods. This seemed to establish the needed link between Vortex and Nexus for downloading. I believe it may help to be logged into Vortex, use mod button and when Nexus shows, log in there. There absolutely may be other ways but since I’ve not had your problems other than when not ‘linked’ I just logged in and that solved the problem. Sometimes it pays to suffer investigating the application thoroughly. You might just find some button, or hint that helps. It’s time consuming, I know but if you’ve the time it’s worth it. Also insure you’ve defined a profile for FO4 and you’ve activated it prior to looking for Mods while in Vortex. Good luck.
