Slot use of armor.

I downloaded an armor mod and a strange thing happend, and I don't know what causes that.

The Bra use normally only slot 32. I checked it in nifscope, Creation Kit and with SSEEdit. But in game it also use Slot 52. Now, that is nasty because this slot is also used by the pantie. So if one is equipped the other is unequipped.

I know that I can change the equip slot for the pantie by assigning another slot, but I want to know how is it possible that an armor part uses more slots then assigned, and if possible to revers this. As said before, Nifscope, Creation Kit and SSEEdit says only slot 32 is assigned so I can't change there something.

There are three locations to check:

NIF file

Armor Addon record (where the NIF file is assigned)

Armor record (where the Armor Addon is assigned)

 

The NIF file usually uses only one slot (can use more if there are multiple NiTriShapes)

The Armor Addon and Armor records can both have more than one slot assigned.

 

The slot that is the same on all three is the primary slot. Any additional slots are secondary and are intended to be used to hide other parts of the body as necessary. Other armor items that use one of the secondary slots as their primary may or may not be viewable depending upon how their priority value compares against the priority value of the first armor item.

 

You can remove secondary slots as needed or adjust priority value of the offending items as needed.

I suppose you got Shlongs of Skyrim installed. SoS uses slot 52 for male genitals and it has a habit of adding slot 52 to body slot armors. That is so you don't get family jewels poking through. It is supposed to only do it when it detects a male NPC wearing the armor. Thing is, collections like TAWOBA tend to distribute to both male and female, which leads to a lot of those bikini tops getting "Schlongified".

 

How to deal with it: have an actor equip one of those Schlongified bras, and go into SoS MCM with this actor targeted. There should be a page for NPC options indicating target and armor being worn. There should be a 'Revealing' checkbox there. Checking it should remove slot 52 from that armor.

 

Now I recall there was an issue with that feature - I had to go into SoS scripts to fix it. If you try it and it does not seem to work, post here.

@scorrp10, kudos for the first rational explanation I've read on "schlongified" in the 4-1/2 years I've been playing. tbh, I've been afraid to use that button for fear I'd screw something up
