BlueSteelRanger
Salutations, Nexus! So, I was directed here since I lack the skill with Blender. I have a piece of jewellery, a necklace specifically, that I managed to make in Oblivion. I'm kind of proud of it and the design itself has personal significance to me. I have the extracted mesh and texture. Might i request assistance to essentially translate this item from Oblivion and stick it into Skyrim? All the best,--BSR
scorrp10
If you provide a link to where the mesh/texture can be downloaded, someone might...
BlueSteelRanger
Doh! And I, like Homer Simpson, just had a "Doh" moment. Here, it's in my Player Home mod.In-game, you can find it in the tower's chest and bedside jewellery box.In the Kit, it's labelled as a "BSRNightRunner" object. https://www.nexusmods.com/oblivion/mods/51120
scorrp10
The files in that mod are .esp only - there appear to be no mesh or texture resources in them.
BlueSteelRanger
Hmm, wait. I have a backup copy of the mesh and texture by itself. Is it possible to create BSA's or upload the mesh/textures by themselves? I know, probably a stupid question but I am still indeed learning and have not yet learned how to make a BSA. scorrp10
You don't need a BSA. Just go to any Oblivion armor mod (like this one) and click 'Preview file contents'. Or just manual download it and unzip using 7Zip. It looks like Oblivion uses pretty much the same file structure as Skyrim. You create a separate work folder for your mod, and under it, setup the file structure just for your mod files. Then you zip the whole thing up. P.S. or you can just upload the mesh and textures on any file-sharing service like Google Drive.
BlueSteelRanger
Oh. And here I went and learned (I think?) how to do the BSA thing. Well, I probably needed to learn that anyway for practicality's sake. :) It's always good to know, right? scorrp10
/facepalm. That BSA contains ONLY YOUR ESP FILE. Which is the one thing that is NOT supposed to go into a BSA. OK, step by step.Lets assume that 'TES4' is your Oblivion installation path. Inside it, it has 'Data' folder. That is the folder that contain all the .esp and .esm files as well as various resource directories, such as meshes, textures, sounds, etc. 1. Somewhere on your PC, you create a folder "MyMod"2. You copy your bsrwentowerhome.esp from TES4\Data to MyMod3. Locate your necklace mesh file somewhere under TES4\Data\meshes. Lets Pretend it is TES4\Data\meshes\MyModStuff\Necklace.nif4. In MyMod folder, you create 'meshes' folder. Inside that, you create 'MyModStuff' folder. In there, you copy the Necklace.nif file.5. Locate your necklace textures somewhere under TES4\Data\textures. Lets pretend they are Necklace.dds and Necklace_n.dds in TES4\Data\textures\MyModStuff\6. In MyMod, you create 'textures' folder. Inside that, you create 'MyModStuff' folder. In there, you copy the Necklace.dds and Necklace_n.dds files.7. In MyMod, select all of its contents, and zip them up into a file. Again, look at the file structure of the mod I linked previously. scorrp10
As far as BSA files go, get Oblivion's BSA Unpacker utility, and use it to check your .bsa before uploading. Here is an example screenshot of what it looks like when I open a .bsa from This mod When your bsa contents instead looks like this, you definitely did it wrong. Seriously, just upload mesh and textures to Google Drive or something.
BlueSteelRanger
Oh, bloody... ::facepalm:: I love it when my reader tech misses sh&t. Aye yi yi. This thing reads off the description and misses the blasted spoiler tags in the freaking tutorial. I swear, I need to update the stupid thing again. There are days when I despise the fact my eyes do not work. All right. Meshes folder. Got it. Textures folder. Got it. BSAunpacker, got it, checking it. Crossing my fingers that this time, JAWS bloody did what I told it to.https://www.nexusmods.com/oblivion/mods/51120
