InDarkestNight
Finally thought I had the freezing issue fixed, then suddenly I froze again, and my last save was an hour before. This game is unplayable. I'm sick of trying to get this stupid game to work. Guess bethesda was won; they've stopped one player from playing Skyrim. And no, SE is seriously even more unstable on my machine. At least with LE I can play for more than a few minutes without a crash or freeze or something stupid happening, and I can actually use mods. This means I now have no games left. I quit buying games years ago because I got sick of being scammed on steam and having my games destroyed through updates. Skyrim was literally the only game I could even still play (seriously, I literally never would've bought any of my games I own if they were the game they are now). I'm sick of bethesda's s#*!, I'm sick of getting this game to work, I'm sick of freezing DEAD all the f*#@ing time. Every time I fix one issue, another materializes. So Skyrim is now dead to me. All games are dead to me. I am so god damned sick of what modern tech has become. When you bought something in the past, you f*#@ing OWNED IT AND COULD DO AS YOU PLEASE AND THE COMPANY COULDN'T DO A DAMNED THING ABOUT IT. I own nothing on my computer, despite the ungodly amounts of cash I paid for everything. Guess I'll just be playing cards the rest of my life. At least I f*#@ing own my own cards, and nobody can do a damned thing about it. I also bought a solo rpg some months ago I never got around to actually trying for some reason despite me really wanting it. Guess now's the time to actually do it. This book is mine and whoever wrote it can't do a damned thing to stop me from playing the game. f*#@ bethesda and I hope they go out of business sooner than later for what they've done to their own fans. I won't be logging in anymore, or even turning on my computer. Literally the only reason I bothered doing so was for Skyrim. Now that I'm not playing Skyrim anymore, I literally have no use for this $1,000 paper weight. f*#@ modern tech. f*#@ the internet. I am beyond god damned sick of it all. Good bye. edit: Decided that I should add some things that AREN'T about me. I'm sorry to the community for all the mod projects I had in mind that will now never be made. I'm sorry in particular that I never got around to making that AHO patch for skytest. I would also like to give a final shout-out to Frostfall and Skytest-Realistic Animals and Predators. These two mods have always been quintessential to me. To me, Frostfall may as well be a part of the vanilla game I played with it so long. Skytest however is my favorite mod of all time. I removed it reluctantly years ago so I could test out various creature mods it wasn't compatible with. Even to this day I miss it. I re-installed it briefly when I was contemplating using it again. Simply walking around the world with it installed made Skyrim feel like home again. Yeah, simply seeing the new animal spawns made Skyrim feel like it should. I even kept voting it for mod of the month, even though I know such an old mod couldn't possibly win that vote. Even when I finally decided to upload some of my own mods, the first person I contacted to ask for help was Etayorius, because he is simply my favorite mod author. Thank both Chesko and Etayorius for all the years of fun their mods gave me, even if I haven't played with either for years now due to my unending back catalogue of mods I simply could never all test. Now, I am truly done. Farewell, and thanks again to Etayorius and Chesko for their wonderful work that I could never hope to match myself. Guest deleted2027229
Just do a clean reinstall of the game and only use mods if and when the need arises, rather than bloating your game with 100s of mods before you even start.

MFitz56
As always with this sort of problem I suggest looking here: https://www.loverslab.com/blogs/entry/7521-conglomerate-01-skyrim-le-essentials-installing-skyrim-stability-fixes-tools/ While it is not short, it is comprehensive and you will end up with a game that works consistently no matter which mods you choose to add. InDarkestNight
I've done all of that, have for years, and the crashes persist. There is no way to get this game stable. SE is even more unstable on my system, and the relentless updates keep me from using my favorite mods, or any mods in general. I've lost the ability to play skyrim, all I have left is games that I despise. I'm sick of playing games I gave up on years ago, just because I have nothing left that I enjoy. All my favorite games have been updated into something unrecognizable, and something I can't enjoy playing no matter how many second chances I give it. Why can't I have games that I enjoy? Why must vile evil companies constantly tear them from me? Is my money not enough for them? Is all the blood and sweat this community has put into mods not enough for bethesda? Do gaming companies just not want people to play their games? They're sure hellbent on accomplishing that. Been thinking maybe we should all sue bethesda for what they're doing to us. Maybe that will teach them to stop their paying customers from playing their game, maybe send a message to the rest of the gaming industry. DON'T MISTREAT YOUR OWN PAYING CUSTOMERS. Why must we even tell them that, seriously? This world just gets madder by the day. Is there no such thing as sanity anymore? We have half this country seriously less in touch with reality than schizophrenics, nasa is taking ufos seriously, the internet is nothing but lies and trolls but YOU CAN'T HOLD A f*#@ING JOB IF YOU AREN'T A PART OF ALL ITS MADNESS. I'm sick of the internet, I'm sick of the gaming industry, I'm sick of what this country has become. Yes, I'm having a bad day. I simply have no way to relax and unwind after quitting skyrim, because I simply have nothing else to do with my free time. I've tried reading, watching youtube, everything I can find but nothing seems to work. I want engagement, I want to actually do things other than sitting here staring at books or my screen. I hardly see much of a reason to turn this stupid machine on anymore, but I have nothing better to do it seems other than contend with the sheer and utter madness that is the modern world. Rodr1sen
I totally agree with many things you say, I come from Tomb Rider, and games of that style I once tried Assassin's Creed, I also liked it, but the latest games went too far from what the essence was. Tomb Rider I really hated it, when I uninstalled it it made me want to throw the PC out the window. My God, but of course it's just my point of view. However, maybe you should take a step aside and keep moving forward, it seems there are one or two mods that you really like and that at the same time give you instability in the game with CTD, maybe you have to let them go. Enjoy Skyrim with so many other mods out there, give a chance to a new one, or maybe an old one that you have removed. Don't deprive yourself of being able to enjoy Skyrim, which is wonderful. Imagine that until a week or two ago I never played with ENB because I had a bad experience. until now, understanding more about the subject, I found one that works for me, you can imagine my face when I started the game from vanilla to one with ENB. Althoughmy PC is quite old and there is a lot that I had to remove to improve performance.Skyrim is a beauty, both in its virtues and in its errors/bugs/glitch, like so many other games, although many of those cannot be changed and you can only enjoy the main story, without shortcuts, without variations. Skyrim can be modified to the unimaginable and if that unimaginable mod doesn't work, someone will surely make a patch for it.Don't focus on one or two or three mods that are giving you problems just because you like them and know them, try new mods, new maps, new quests, give Skyrim a chance, give yourself the opportunity to exploreif you return to Skyrim at some point. You better use this mod or something similar from the beginning so you avoid the possible bug of the cart arriving at Helgen, it would be quite... unfortunate to return and have that entry bug.Optional Quick Starthttps://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/111029 I hope you find what you're looking for, and that you can enjoy while you do it, even if it's the little things, even if it takes more time than you want.saludos
InDarkestNight
Sigh, I was attempting the relic hunter challenge for Legacy of the Dragonborn. I have pretty much nothing but all the mods I need, and some graphics mods I've been using since forever. If I remove one more mod, I can't complete the challenge of attaining every single item. And yes, before you say it, my pc can definitely handle a full museum. I managed to find a save that was nearly complete, and my game didn't have a single problem with it. Fixing these crashes is nearly impossible because I have to get super deep into a game before they start to manifest. I'm sick of replaying the beginning of the game over and over again. Also, I have removed mods in the past that caused stability issues. Beasts of Tamriel and Darkbrotherhood of Old come to mind. I also removed Skytest Realistic Animals and Predators a long time ago so I could test out other creature mods without consistency issues (like creatures larger than mammoths mysteriously being less tanky than them due to skytest doubling the health of mammoths). I also haven't played with frostfall for the sake of testing difficulty mods. Also have never gotten around to trying Last Seed either due to not running frostfall. If I can't use the mods I want, I see no point in even playing the game. What, am I supposed to just keep doing the vanilla questlines over and over again? I want to do this challenge, but I'm sick of the stupid relentless crashes. What could be causing them? How am I supposed to diagnose an issue that doesn't manifest until I'm close to level 20? I don't have a single mod that's listed as unstable (other than maybe elemental dragons, but I have yet to get to the point where they spawn so they can't possibly be the issue). I will not play skyrim again unless I can complete the museum. And no, I definitely can't do it in SE. I had a consistent crash in dragonsreach that refused to go away even if I didn't have a single mod installed. I had to quit it because it meant I couldn't start the main questline, which was locking me out of several quest mods strangely. Also, I found that LE was far more stable on my computer, and also had the look I was struggling for years to get in SE. f*#@ bethesda and their stupid BS. On a side note, the makers of Terraria are apparently suing Unity for trying to sabotage all the games made with their software. Seriously. So, game developers now are suing the companies that made their IDE for doing the same damned thing Bethesda has been doing to the modding community for years now. Wonder if this means that Bethesda will finally be forced to pay (no pun intended) for all the hard work they've destroyed for no clear reason? Maybe things are finally turning around for the modding community. Or maybe not, but its just nice to finally see a glimmer of hope after 7 years of warring with bethesda just so we all can express ourselves and play the game we paid for how we want. RomanR
You aren't the only one with your woes. It seems that we're experiencing the end of one of PC era. Seeing articles with plans to drop 32-bit compatibility in HW, focus on newest systems and APIs, we are having the same issues which lovers of old tech are facing every day. Problems with stability, connectivity, failing componets etc. For 8-bit and 16-bit computers and consoles there are many emulators, working almost perfect and developed for decades now. Even for DOS games you can use DosBox or similar. But for games of Win XP and Win 7 I personaly no see such solution. There are various Virtual Machine software, but not focused on gaming, so their emulated cards are lacking needed features and speed. For now I'm still clinging to my not-so-old computer with Ryzen 2700 and Win 7 + Win XP installs (XP 1-core only, running with extra USB and SATA port cards), but after about 5 years later this computer will propably only serve as backup of my new one and for playing such old games as Skyrim or Oblivion, since they will not run on a new computer anymore. Also I'm not sure what system I should use in a future. Windows 10+ now behave like they own my computer and their system overhead is much larger, running smoothly only on top HW. Maybe going Linux? For you InDarkestNight I would recommend to visit some PC Service workshop or similar, unusual freezing or crashes could mean failing component. Also a profesional can point to some weak point in your setup or recommend changing some components, for example to change your SSHD to SSD disk or similar. InDarkestNight
I'm not having these problems with any other game, only Skyrim. I've always doubted that means there's something wrong with this computer. Also, this has been an issue ever since I started using this computer. It was brand new and these issues were already present. On the other hand, I have started to suspect today that there may in fact be something wrong with this machine. Lately when I've been turning it on, I don't get a mouse for several minutes. Earlier today, my mouse vanished in the middle of what I was doing and wouldn't come back. Tapping the mouse made the light under it come back on, but it still didn't work. It didn't work until I straight unplugged it and put it in a usb port on the front of my computer. That made no difference. I was able to restart my computer using the keyboard, and ever since then the mouse has behaved as it should. Yeah, weird issue. As for the original machine I ran the game on, I have no idea if it would even boot up. I used it for a full 10 years, but was forced to abandon it when it refused to go online anymore (someone told me it sounded like a driver issue). I haven't turned that computer back on since, and I don't even know if it would boot up at all. I'm highly hesitant to use older technology, because I don't want to fry it. Besides, LE didn't run much better on that thing than this. I never tried to run SE on the thing due to its age when the game came out. Though I never checked to see if it met the system requirements. Skyrim is infamous for being unstable, so I don't see why the problem is unique to me. Keep in mind, I literally have never had any problems with any other program or game on this machine. It all relates to Skyrim, both versions. How could it then be an issue with the computer when literally only one application is being affected? Besides, lets be real here, bethesda just doesn't want people to mod this game for w/e reason. They're gone to increasing extremes to stop mods from working on SE, including force-installing cheap crap that nobody was using that happens to conflict with over 90% of mods. This is a war and we're losing. I was thinking it was about time to just give up the fight and accept defeat. What can we do? We're fighting a freaking AAA company who will stop at nothing to keep people from playing the game they PAID FOR the way they want. If I can't mod skyrim, its just not worth playing. Lets be real, the game itself sucks, the only reason to play it is for the mods. No mods, no skyrim. Even if this thing with re-logic cascades to bethesda's rampage finally being put to an end, I don't see the damage that's been done being reversed. I mean, people straight can't even play SE anymore at all because they foolishly bought the AE thing, and due to steam's bullshit return policy they can't get rid of it. As a consequence, they simply can't run any mods at all, and the game is a buggy unplayable mess with all that garbage the AE thing came with. I really don't see why anyone even bothers to try to play SE anymore. I'm also getting sick of TRAITOR youtubers who show CC garbage in their videos. Don't they realize how much it hurts to be BETRAYED by someone you've watched for years? Guess money from bethesda is worth more than their fans. Maybe its finally time for this game to lay down and die. Its lived far longer than most games do, and its obvious bethesda is finally winning the fight to kill it. Its just not worth fighting anymore.
