Kissimurra
How well does Morrowind run on your Computer? You might not belive this but... I run Morrowind on 960*720, Highest Image Quality, 8X Antialiasing, 8X Anisotropic Filtering, 80% view distance and I rarely get less than 20 FPS. I also have Visual Pack 1.1 and 2.2 Installed! Im very satisfied with my Image Quality/ Performance in MW! Here's a screen at my Character :D
Switch
Nice. What's 960*720 though? Some sort of measurement for resolutions used in Sweden? Sorry but I don't understand ^^ I don't know about the anti-aliasing or anisotropic filtering (I didn't know you could alter those with Morrowind!). Also, what's a visual pack? :P But anyways, mine seems to run fine on 100% view distance, full shadows, and 1024x768. Of course I usually shut off shadows anyway as they're somewhat buggy, ugly, and not necessary. :P Anyways, it scored 20-25 FPS running up and down Balmora at all angles. I haven't really stress tested Morrowind much since I got my new graphics card (GeForce 6800 GT) but that was the performance I got when I did. I'm pleased with it to say the least. :D And all that when I have just 512mb RAM. *Huggles teh card*. Ahem.
Kissimurra
Actually 960*720 is a very good blend between 1024*768 and 800*600 :) Well, thats sounds good! I have a 6600GT, 768 MB Ram and 2,8 Ghz and Morrowind works very well on my PC! And yes, Morrowind supports antialiasing and Anisotropic and it works very well with the game! It looks great with 8Xaniso/8Xantialias! The best thing with theese "effects" is that morowind do not seem take a big performance hit when they are acivated!(!!!) I loose about 5 FPS when I turn on AntiAlias/ Aniso! If you dont have the Visualpacks, then I strongly recommend them! the Visualpacks improves the overall graphics in the game very much, and of course with a minimal performance hit! The "mod" replaces over 1000 textures with better ones, and dont worry, this is just remakes of the old ones so the game will still feel like vanilla Morrowind :D Chek them out! If you want them ,make sure to download both of them ( V2.11 and 2.2) Atleast, check the screenshots out :) You can download them here Morrowind VisualPacks
Abramul
I've gotten over 200 FPS, standing in a corner...I get 93 in most interiors, 30-40 in the AC region/less reference-intensive AI region, and a solid 21 in Pelagiad. AMD 64-bit CPU + GeForce 3 Ti
Kissimurra
Yeah, in interiors I get a very high FPS, but there isn't that very much to render in an Interior compared to an exterior. As I said I have a minimum of 20 FPS, an thats in Balmora :) Well, morrowind is very Mhz demanding so the game should work great with your CPU. Perhaps a new graphics card? Although geforce 3 isnt to bad :(
Switch
Cool, thanks for the info. :D If you don't mind me asking, how do you edit anisotropic/anti-aliasing settings? I'm guessing there's parameters in the ini file or something? I'm not really playing Morrowind at the moment but it'd be good to know for future reference. ^^
Adras
On my old video card I ran it on 1024x768, view distance around 20% and shadows off and it ran decent. Balmora was always poopy, but with my new computer (I havent tested it yet, but I will soon) it should run crystal clear. I have 1280x1024 resolution and view distance 100%. My video card is the same as Switch (GeForce 6800 GT) 2.2GHz I believe (That might be way off, but its over 1GB), and a bit of RAM. Put it this way, I can run Half-Life 2, full graphics (screen shot below for those who have never seen it on full graphics) and 1280x1024 resolution and go to desktop instantly and switch back in about 2-3 seconds, so Morrowind should run like nothing at all... =) I like my new compy.. I should have pics within a month of it (I'm getting pics of it when I get pictures of my blazer). (Sorry about the pic timing, Alyx looks like she is on drugs, but I figured it would give a nice image of her face and Eli's face. Pretty close up.) Kissimurra
Well, you can't edit Antialias/ Aniso for Morrowind in the ini or inside the game, but Bethesda claims that morrowind is 100% compitable with it. You will have to go to your graphicscards options window, and then select "Performance and Quality" there you can adjust Antialias and Anisotropic, just klick on Aniso in the list and switch of "application-controlled" and then set the value you want morrowind to run with, 2X/4X/8X/ or 16X! same with Antialiasing. Note: all games you play will run with theese setting as long as "application-controlled" is switched of. Note: with 8X antialias you can run the game on 800X600 and it will still look like you play it on 1024*768 or higher :P Well Adras, dont expect morrowind to run better than HL2, it wont! Doom 3 runs better on my PC than Morrowind! The engine that Morrowind uses is poorly optimized. It's kinda funny that HL2 and Doom 3 runs faster on most new PC:s than morrowind does :laugh2:
CrazyGilbert
yeah, doom3 runs smoother than my morrowind does, Balmora is perfect and sustains the same FPS as other regiona and cities. all exept for ald- ruhn my fps plummets to like 5 when there. Adrian Laguna
Shadows off, any other fancy thingamajigs off (and impossible to turn on in the first place), 1024x768 resolution, and full view distance. I get 8-16 fps, don't mind the occasional chopiness (when it goes below 12fps) in excahange for seeing very far, and I can't tell the difference between 12fps and 60fps. So high fps is only important to me insofar as it works as a buffer so that any slowdowns go unoticed.
