[Mod creation and community knowledge] I'm getting pissed off

I highly recommend joining SF modding Discord server. Link is in the first pinned post of this forum.

And theres no nif export tool atm, author didnt lie to you

If there's no nif tools, then how are they editing nifs? Literally deleting sections of spacesuits to make them skimpy, literal nif replacers. You can't have edited nif mods without a tool to edit nifs. Tell me again how I'm wrong, or the author isn't lying? Care to explain the screenshots proving the nif was edited and that they say there's no tools to do so, yet their mod is an edited nif replacer?

Thats basically mesh replacer. Same thing I've done here

How are these mods made you ask?

To quote the xEdit author: "By hacking up broken crap".

Neither xEdit nor Nifskope support editing SF mods atm. RE work on the new ESP format has not even been completed yet (and will still take a while).

Plugins and NIFs uploaded so far are most likely concocted using FO4 versions of these tools, plus manual editing with a hex editor.

Loading these hacked up things into your game is a risky proposition, to say the least.

Making an esp for SF is not at all complicated. Use FO4edit to make your game settings esp then change the header with a hex editor to say it is the new version of esp that starfield uses instead of FO4's. The method has been discussed with older titles before the XEdit team finished working on it. The problem is those esp's could corrupt your save file so always best to wait for proper tools from those who know how to figure out what Bugsthesda has done.

Just ask with some money then modders will be always helpful if you really want the information real quick. Otherwise you gotta wait until kind modders reveal secret stuffs.

There are many hoarded knowledges are there, some modders prefer not to tell you even if you give them money. Just making their mods more unique and gain attension. I know it's annoying but it's their figuring.

muh "inclusiveness"

*bans modders/mods for replacing rainbow flags and removing pronounces*

this place is a f*#@ing joke. we need a better modding website. remember back in the day when modding websites were just random webpages you found through google? that's better than this centralized authoritarian nightmare

What you mean ?

Anyway I found it very strange that the Devs had much care to include pronouns and instead forgot about FOV sliders for better accessibility to the game , where is the inclusiveness of people that have illnesses caused by motion sickness or else?

lmao this is hilarious, top troll OP

- Mod authors do not owe you anything. They do everything for free. If they feel like never documenting anything they do ever again, that is up to them. no one owes you s#*!.

- its been ONE WEEK since the game launched.. like calibrate your expectations a little..

my guess it the modders have experience modding previous Bethesda games and are using all kinds of hacks and f*#@ery to make things work. see for example this tool - https://github.com/fo76utils/ce2utils, forked from a tool made for Fallout now edited for use with starfield. but this is what its like working on the cutting edge/early days of _ANY_ project - there is very little documentation and you just have to figure it out. go on the discord, go on github, search a lot, try a lot of s#*!, piece it together. no one owes you a guide.

to your burning question of HOW THE f*#@ DID THEY EDIT A NIF WITHOUT A TOOL?!@??! this is not a conspiracy to hide things from you - you can literally google .nif and find tools to edit them like addons for blender etc. maybe starfields NIFs are slightly different and they had to hack them or something, i dont know im not modder. but i am a software dev and know that just because there is no specialized tool to edit a file doesn't mean it cant be edited, it just might involve a lot of hacking and black magic that is hard to explain and document and probably only a few people understand. for example you can edit a SWF using JPEXS but its a decompiler and knowing how to edit them there is like a crazy arcane skill that would take a lot of background knowledge to understand and explain
