Help using the console

i am testing a little quest that i made for morrowind but I need to know how yiu get certain journal updates without acually doing anything 9what is the line of code i put into?) i know the id of the journal entry.

If you want to have a journal entry added to your journal, the syntax is

 

Journal "Journal ID" "Journal Index"

 

If you just want to set your journal index without adding the entry to your journal (eg you might want to go back to an earlier journal index to test an alternative option) use

 

SetJournalIndex "Journal ID" "Journal Index"

BUT I acually write 'journal index' in the syntax?

for example for a journal topic of MM_Journal, index #5 the syntax would be.(try to stick to their naming convention makes things easier)

 

setjournalindex "mm_journal" 1

 

I know you have been working with scripting for dummies so try looking on page 90, 91.

 

YOu also might want to try looking for a dialog tutorial. Can't remember who wrtoe it but if you search this site for dialog or journal (thats where i found the link) it should come up

arghhh.....what i want is to get it in my journal (that i am now the archmagister of house telvanni) without doing anything but writing it in the console!!!!!!! is it because i have not joined house telvanni or something like that?

you could try using

 

filljournal

 

but it may take a while
