Eshenaleros
I'm always interested in what people think about things, and types of mods is something that permeates this website entirely, including some of the mods that many ignorant people see as something to be ridiculed and put down without any heed for the consequences. rarely do those who actually like something post just how much they like it, and many people only post when they have a complaint or problem, which can cause a lack of self esteem where really it is completely an utterly due. I'd like to start this thread to honor those who make these mods, as well as find out about the people who use them. post how you feel about these things, leave out what you do not wish to talk about, and talk as much as your willing to. Mine is as follows Clothing for Males: as far as it goes I like my men to be fully dressed most of the time, but if i can justify why they may be scantily dressed or perhaps even naked, I'm entirely fine with it. My main character is currently wearing a suit of armor that makes me feel like I'm driving a humanoid tank around in game, but if I suddenly got the urge to play a barbarian nord wearing naught but a loincloth, I shall go find myself such an article of clothing and have little sham in my character traipsing through the wilderness or cities in such fantastic garb. this is fantasy, and if I want an armor bonus I can always enchant it or something Clothing for Females: I feel much the same way about female armor and clothing as I do about the male clothing - if I can justify why they may be scantily clad (or compleyely encased) then I will. this does not, however, mean that my noble lady will be running around the wilderness in high heels. that's just silly, what with all the mud and such. no, I think characters should be dressed appropriately for their situation - if there were prostitutes in oblivion I would like to see them wearing the medieval equivalent of a tube top and miniskirt, while the countess will be wearing a nice looking yet formal outfit. see my meaning? dress for the occasion. Quests: When I see a quest, whether it's already in the game or here on the nexus, immediately my mind flies to the question, "Which of my characters would this fit the theme of?" Quests are the reason I play roleplaying games. I love stories much more than I love looking at women (simple statement of fact there - I barely have any libido at all) and will happily spend weeks locked in my room as long as I have sustenance and enough books to last me that much time. for me, these are the staple of Oblivion. New/Adjusted Lands: Almost as strongly as my love of a good story is my love of exploring areas unseen, and in this case beautifying the areas I have seen as well. obviously a sandstorm or a blizzard is going to make me wonder how my character is surviving the weather, but in all honesty when i find that beautiful oasis or the soaring mountaintop tower, it all becomes worth it, as the Rule of Cool takes over. That in itself is my personal happy place. Races: races are something that I'm not exactly sure why, but I'm addicted to testing and finding new kinds, and I've been like that since I've started playing games where you can choose the race of your charatcer. "What does a human play like in this game? well that was fun, let's try the same class but be an elf instead. and now that I've done that, I wonder how the dwarves handle it." I get races, play them once, and store them away until they fit a concept. it's just how I am. Companions: Companions, while all fine and dandy in games such as dungeons and dragons, aren't my cup of tea in oblivion. If i'm playing a mage or archer then a warrior will get in my way, and generally ranged combat strikes my enemies before I even know how to react. so, in order to make my character actually level up and gain skill, I leave followers, partners, and companions behind whenever I get them. Homes/Buildings: I'm a hobo by nature. I may be a urderous, rich, well groomed hobo, but I'm still a hobo, as i have never found the use of a house quite necessary. if I need to sleep somewhere, perhaps to level up, then I find myself a bedroll in the dungeon I'm conquering or fork over the ten gold for a place to sleep in some seedy tavern. I'm not going to pay thousands of gold for a place I'll never use, and unless it's so large I'm capable of getting lost in it, then really I'm not interested in finding any player created homes either. there are a few exceptions to this though, where the castle doubles as a quest locale or a dungeon, so those are fine, but once I've finished I have a tendency to never return. Cosmetic: Now these I make heavy use of, almost as much as the new races mods. a new hairstyle? I'll try it on my Breton Wizard. some new eyes and makeup? those might look good on my Wood Elf Spell thief. I've rarely turned away from a new hair that I've found, and those i have turned away from I've always at least tried out first. Adult Mods: I added this last bit reluctantly at first because I didn't know what I might say that didn't have anything to do with specific mods which I personally find a bit... against my tastes. But, I realized that in all it's forms sexual desire is something that permeates the human mind. I personally, think it's natural for people to want their fantasy game to house things like this. after all, all the world's a stage, each game is at least one person's fantasy, and one man's Squick is another man's Squee As a final note, I ask that nobody outright puts down mods or modders in this thread. it will lead to unnecessary thread derailment and is simply insulting to those who have worked hard on them disapproving is fine, and saying you don't have an opinion about something, but please try not to be malicious about it. if you feel the need to do so, please read the fourth quote in my signature. David Brasher
I like quest mods and dungeon mods. I think they are what make the game go. Texture and mesh replacement can be nice, but what I want is story and play-value. I am not much into acquiring new houses in the game, but sometimes it is nice to have a safe place to pile all of your treasure that you want to keep or are too lazy to sell. I have this one house with a big pile of daedric and glass armor on the floor of one room. I guess I am sort of like a dragon with a big heap of treasure to lay on. In another house of mine, I am tiling the floor with carefully placed daedric, ebony, and glass shields. Now if I could just figure out how to get past them to get to my bed. The clothing on Oblivion is sometimes rather scanty, but Bethesda started it. We can blame it on them. Look at the female iron armor, and female huntsman clothing (lowershirt03, lowerpants03.) Look at the xivili, dark seducers, and golden saints. The female goblin shamans also provide a spectacle. Companions can be difficult to deal with. I am less effective in combat when spending so much time trying not to hurt my companion. I am currently working on a part-time companion mod. She goes adventuring with me on the weekends, then goes back to her other life on weekdays. That way I can enjoy adventuring with an ally and enjoy adventuring alone. Many thanks to those modders who make quests and dungeons, especially if they have complex story-lines, NPCs, and lots of dialog.
dezdimona
My range of tastes in mods reflects my own personal tastes and/or is a reflection of what I as a person see as normal.male armor. Since i found most male visages not to my liking I rarely play a male character. That changed with first;the Ancient Elven Sorcerer and Then really took off with Slof's Devil Race.Again my tastes are my own and I use scanty male armors many of which I have made and Slofs. Female armors: Again my taste reflects me and what I like. I have crated many female clothing's and armors ,only a few of which are left on this site. Like a few other modders I removed all of them because you just get tired of the "children of any age" making comments. Dark One and Buddah came up with an idea that kept me here! I love quest mods, who doesn't! I've downloaded and played so many that I've lost track of them. They add agreat deal of playability to the game Race mods: well I named the two male race mods I use. As far as female races I bet I've tried over a dozen. Currently my keepers include a Succubus(go figure) and a Female "Lycan" I've tried the landscape altering and atmospheric ones. While nice a much better rig and an LCD monitor added more to what I wanted than those mods. They are great mods, just not for me! Cosmetic mods: After body mods, these mods do more to "beautify" Oblivion than a lot of others do. Yes I use them and thru much trial and error I now have keepers! Companions: I've tried some. They all fill a niche in all our games for one reason or another. I use one human companion and that is "Sexy Companion" Montanna and I are partners and she for me is the only one. Sorry what I do with her is only for me to know and it might surprize a lot of people! All my other Companion are done by Maigrets! She in my opinion makes the "best" non humanoid companions. Her Spider, dragon and Tiger are game staples for me. Adult Mods; Yes I use them.I'm an adult. I have a healthy sexual appetite and I think these type of mods add realism to "my" game. They sre not for everyone. ( I'm glad you put aside your tastes and added this catagory, takes a special person to put aside their own preferences to add something as controversial as this) Like scanty clothes and armors I use them for astectic purposes. The human body in all its forms is a work of art ( This will draw comments I'm sure) but I don't care! Personally I see nothing wrong with them. My own site when reopened soon will be for adults only and will feature adult mods among other modding creations. I am and always will be confortable in my own skin,my sexuality and my likes and dislikes. Does that make me a bad or evil person? NO...it makes me just me! A great topic. I thank you for allowing me to voice my personal opinions on my likes and dislikes. Dezi
AncientSpaceAeon
Okay this is my opinion : Houses : What for ? I pay a lot of gold for Skingrad's manor, and what did I get. Yeah, I put objects on my display case, still no use. If we can explore the dreamworld everytime we sleep, I wouldn't buy a house. Execpt we are playing other games, such as Sims 3, I think I keep my gold on my pocket, I'll just download those free house mods. Quests : Something really useful, the RPG's heart is the quests, so I really need them. Companions : Except Ruined-Tail that give a great quest and seems talk with a heart, companions isn't really useful. Even they can create a distraction when I run in fear, that's not a good thing to do, right ? I'll stick with the summoning creatures first. Races : I care more about how a race specialize at, rather than the good looks of them. I thought when playing, we either have the third or first person view. We don't see our face when combat, walking, etc. We don't really do it in the real life either. Clothing : The vanilla clothes doesn't have anything really cool, if all clothing use animations, maybe I change my mind. Adult Mods : Some like them, I don't like them. We don't admire our own body right. Maybe others like them, but not for me. Combat Mods : I like most of them, but I think Deadly Reflex is just too, scary. But I like the others. Graphic Mods : I like them, a lot. Even for some, Oblivion spec requirements is too high, and the graphics are enough. I don't agree, because on this day technology, Oblivion with graphic mods just like a new game. That's my opinion, I hope Bethesda and the modders going to improve this at Elder Scrolls V
