I can't get any armor mods to work

I have created the StarfieldCustom.ini file, I have added the "bInvalidateOlderFiles=1 sResourceDataDirsFinal=" lines to the archive section, and I have manually downloaded and installed all of the mods I am using (or trying to use) into the "documents/my games/Starfield" folder, but none of the armor mods are working. The mods that effect ship construction work fine, but not a single armor mod does. What have I done wrong?

Have you installed them into the Data folder - they need to be placed in a Data folder in that location. If there is no Data folder, you need to create one. Any texture folders (or other folders) are placed within that Data folder. So the folder structure should be ...\Documents\My Games\Starfield\Data

Good luck!

Yes, I have.

I am presuming that these are retextures, and not something that has a plugin - as mods which use a plugin (e.g. - an .esp or.esm) are inherently improperly made and are problems just waiting to happen. Also, mods that change the mesh can also cause issues, as the mesh used for Starfield is not the same as in previous games, so mods that use new meshes have a good probability of causing issues. It might also be good to list the specific mods that are not showing - perhaps someone may know something more specific as concerns them.

Yes, they're just retextures. All they do is change the colors of a couple armors slightly. It's just these two mods:

With just those two mods installed, your My Games/Starfield folder should be set up pretty much like this (the dashes are just to make it easier to see the subfolders and contents):

My Games
Starfield
StarfieldCustom.ini
StarfieldPrefs.ini
Data
- Textures
- - Clothes
- - - basegloves
- - - - glove_mat_color.dds
- - - suitzero
- - - - suitv3
- - - - - body_color.dds
- - - - - body_metal.dds
- - - - - body_rough.dds
- - - - - gloves_color.dds
- - - - - gloves_rough.dds
- - - - - helmet_color.dds
- - - - - pack_color.dds
- - - - - pack_metal.dds
- - - - - pack_rough.dds
- - - outfit_sarah
- - - - sarah_lodgeoutfit_lowerbody_f_color.dds
- - - - sarah_lodgeoutfit_lowerbody_m_color.dds

That is exactly how it is set up. And yes, StarfieldCustom is an .ini file.

And this is on the same drive as the game is installed on? Because, if not, it needs to be. And, if you have OneDrive, is it disabled? Because that is a major cause of issues due to how it handles, replaces, or removes files. Those would be the only reasons I can see why they would not work - if it was on a different drive than the game, and/or OneDrive is interfering. If neither of those two are the case, then I am at a loss for any real reason why the mods would not be working.

Unfortunately, this is the problem with trying to troubleshoot issues via the internet - sometimes, an issue that does not seem to have a solution, when seen in person, may be much easier to figure out. Unfortunately, I only have a grav drive in the game, not in real life (and no Star Trek transporter, either!).

Keep us informed - perhaps if I cannot think of anything else, someone else may be able to. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that you can get this solved - and if I have any other ideas, I will post them. In the meanwhile, I will be keeping an eye on this thread.
